Q1 2013 Could Be The Greatest Quarter In Gaming History
We all talk about the best years in gaming history (1998 and 2001 are my personal favorites; I'm not alone) but what about individual quarters?
Because if we look at it this way, there's a chance that the first quarter of 2013 (January - March) could be the single best quarter we've ever seen in the industry's history.
After more delays and more confirmations for that quarter, the list has gotten borderline ridiculous. Those that are essentially set to go for Q1 2013 are: DMC, Bioshock Infinite, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, Crysis 3, Dead Space 3, Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, Tomb Raider, God of War: Ascension, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and Splinter Cell: Blacklist. That alone would put it in contention, I think. But a whole lot more could be dropping during that insane three-month period.
Grand Theft Auto V probably tops the list, as most analysts and industry insiders still believe Take-Two and Rockstar will deliver this blockbuster before the company's fiscal year is over (that ends on March 31, 2013). But there's also the possibility of seeing The Last Of Us, which could be the best damn game we've seen the entire generation, and now we're hearing that Final Fantasy XIII-3 might just get in there. FFXIII-2 launched in January of this year and Square Enix keeps saying they want to release their games at a faster clip. And that announcement might just come this week at the Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary celebration.
Plus, with the Wii U available, who knows what we might see for that, and speaking of the next generation, that hype could be through the roof during the first quarter. I'm not saying we'll see either the PS4 or Xbox 720 before April, but isn't part of the gaming culture the attitude and excitement about the industry in general...? Personally, I think that would be a contribution to a period of gaming, even if the systems aren't officially here yet.

First Quater of next year is gonna be insane. Why do they have to release so many good games with so little time to play. Dead Space 3,Ni No Kuni, and The Last Of Us are the only games I will get.

After NAS response, I really seen what he did. Now after reading your comment, even though there is only 2 (possibly 3) games you would get, they are 2 very different games. Maybe that's the real beauty of that list. It provides variety, and a List of games with massive amounts of potential.

But hell, Q1 may be in contention, but 2013 could very well be the best year EVER for games when you add the likes of Beyond, Remember Me, Alien: Colonial Marines, GeoW: Judgement, Castlevania: LoS2, and potentially The Last Guardian, Versus XIII and Fallout 4 to that already bombastic list.
What a year the gamers shall have. I just hope the Vita gets heaps of love too :)

But as for 2013, oh it's gonna be big. I can't wait to get my hands on:
No Ni Kuni- a real traditional JRPG experience we've all been waiting for.
TOMB RAIDER - still has my attention, I love the new visceral approach to the design.
Bioshock: Infinite - I still have only watched the first trailer, but that was enough, I cannot wait to see what it has to offer.
Then of course there are a few maybes, Rising still has me on the fence, I just cannot get over the new direction, I think I'll be getting it cheaper. Same with The Last of Us, I love Naughty Dog and I know the game will deliverer but since Fallout 3 I have had enough of the whole post-aposyalpitic setting, it's just been so over used since F3, 'The Road' was the last film where I really put my foot down. But to me it still looks just like a rougher version of Uncharted.
Then of course is the big news this week The Final Fantasy & Metal Gear 25th Anniversary! I am hoping for some huge announcements including the release date for FF: Type-0, Versus XIII & XIII-3 - Big stuff. Then there is Metal Gear, a new project is in production, It's only a matter of time until it is revealed - if any of these reach us before Q2 2013 I'll be so excited - yes, even for Versus again :P

DS3 looks pretty crap, so does MGSR, DMC, and sly 4 $ony were MAD to delay that till next year!
GOWA im intrigued to see what the story is like, but after the MASSIVE disappointment that was GOW3 im not exactly holding my breath.........
bioshock infinite, crysis 3, tomb raider, and splinter cell blacklist are really the only ones that are guaranteed hits!
not exactly excessive amount of titles for said time of year, in fact weve had plenty more in the past!
last of us wont be out in the first quarter, $ony already has beyond 2 souls and GOWA there not going to release 3 games within a month!
that will be releasing later in the year like all ND and big games do.

oh and to answer the question there were not as many boss battles as 2 which was disappointing, they were no where near as fun and well thought out.
the puzzles were pretty small, easy and boring.
biggest hardest puzzle in the game would be heras garden, compare that to some of the puzzles in GOW1 or 2.
yea, thats what i thought!
exactly what pisses me off about gamers this gen!
all they give a sh*t about is amazing graphics and gore!
GOW3!
who cares about the gameplay, story, the things that ACTUALLY MATTER!

The Last of Us
Beyond: Two Souls
Bioshock Infinite
Tomb Raider
Dead Space 3
South Park: The Stick of Truth
and, maybe... if I have the time and money, Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch
as for Q4 2012?
Assassin's Creed III
Halo 4
Rocksmith (late arrival in Australia)
Dead or Alive 5
maybe Dishonored if I have the time and money.
Yeah... 2013 looks like a better year. 2012 has given me a chance to save my pennies. Except for Steam sales, spent over $200 on about 30 games!! Gabe Newell can add my money to his money fort.
