The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hearthfire DLC: All Sorts Of Domestic

No, there's no knowing when and if it'll come to the PlayStation 3, but we'll just optimistically assume it'll arrive at some point.

Bethesda has announced that the next expansion for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will land next week on September 4. It's called Hearthfire, as previously rumored, and it's first coming to the Xbox 360.

This cool DLC will let you design and build your own home within that expansive fantasy world, which ought to be an intriguing process. You will purchase a plot of land and then gather up raw materials to create your little domicile. Some rooms can be highly functional as well, as you can construct a greenhouse and an enchanter's tower or alchemy lab to craft useful items. Heck, you can even toss in a garden, hives, and a fish hatchery if you're so inclined, and if you need some help, hire a steward. And a bard for ambiance!

Lastly, if you'd like to live with your spouse, you can adopt a child, who can be educated in the future. Of course, mommy and son/daughter will have to be protected, so remember that.

For $5 it sounds kind of interesting, but I was hoping for more of a larger mission based expansion again. Hopefully they announce Dawnguard soon.

I have a friend who would love this, even after he upgraded all his houses he just wanted to get his own land and build one from the ground up.

But he owns a PS3 so there's like no point.

I love you Bethesda, but, like... f*ck you.

They're really alienating a lot of fans.They've had years to properly learn the ps3's architecture so I don't see how they can keep making excuses. Either make them as well as you intend or don't bother at all.

I suspect (and this is merely speculation from my part) that this could be related to the slightly rigid memory system in the PS3 that's not as flexible as on a PC/Xbox. There is a *lot* of data being churned in this game.

One thing is for sure though; No professional developers are "being dicks" to anyone on purpose.
But yeah, it is frustrating to be sitting with the short end of the stick. Indeed it is.

Don't be naive Boom, if this were a PS3 specific problem then PC would be getting the DLC at the same time as the 360. This is a cash flow thing that gives half their consumers the middle finger.

Oh so it's just a timed exclusive deal? What's the fuzz then? I thought the case was that it didn't come to the PS3, with that post from Mell talking about "learning the architecture".

You guys sure get easily upset now and then! You should be happy Microsoft haven't bought the entire Bethesda studios, or we would have seen *nothing* of these games. :D

A timed exclusive... Pfffft.. That's *nothing*.

It's not like it's a crappy CoD map you gotta wait a month for, if this goes anything like Oblivion then PS3 Skyrim fans could be out in the cold for up to 6 months.

Oh by all means, you don't find me defending any of this platform exclusive BS, but unfortunately it's part of the console war.

I just think timed exclusives are the lesser of the two evils, is all.

Oh man THAT is a cool expansion. I love stuff like that and I've always wanted home crafting in an offline rpg.

Hope all this stuff comes for Fallout 4 too!

I appreciate the talent that goes into making a game like skyrim, but at the same time I've lost a lot of respect for them because they clearly don't give a crap about ps3 users (and don't give me the 'not up to par' excuse, if they really cared they would have devoted every resource to ensuring dawnguard was out on ps3 before finishing hearthfire). So will I get these upgrades if and when they come to ps3 yes, but I will definitely think twice before I get involved in another bethesda game. And I'm pretty sure a lot of ps3 users feel the same way.

Also, why all the hate for Bethesda around here? We all knew that the expansions would be coming late before Skyrim was even released. There is a timed exclusivity deal in place, just like there was with Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas. It's not new, and it really isn't all that different from CoD or the same thing inverted for Battlefield.

And I get that we're long since outside the supposed 1 month window for that deal, but have we forgotten the issues that plagued Skyrim at launch? Maybe those same problems are cropping up again with the expansion; maybe it's a whole new set of problems. Do we really want a repeat of that, or even of Fallout 3's expansions which were ballsed up as well?

Honestly, calm down. It'll come when it's ready and no amount of b****ing is going to change that. I'll shut up now.

If Bethesda is having so much trouble with the PS3 version of Skyrim and its DLC, maybe they should just give everyone that purchased the PS3 version a free Xbox 360 and the 360 version of Skyrim.

F**k Bethesda. I picked up the Ps3 version of Skyrim over the 360 version what happens me & every other Ps3 owner gets screwed over. I should i have picked up the 360 version. Times like this im glad i own both consoles. but i refuse to pick up Skyrim again till it hit twenty dollars used or a Game of the Year version is released.
