PS3 News: Activision Axes 150 Jobs

Activision Axes 150 Jobs

"Happy Valentine's Day! You're fired." It may not have been that harsh, but Activision has cut 150 jobs, or 7% of its workforce at its Santa Monica headquarters. 7 per cent at its Santa Monica headquarters, axing around 150 jobs as the publisher continues to pursue a conservative strategy during the next-generation console transition.

An Activision spokesperson told Gamespot "The reduced head count is to better align resources against our near term needs in fiscal '07 and our anticipated growth in '08."

Activision's Q3 financial results, revealed higher net revenues, but thanks to soft market conditions, poor sales performance, and shortages of the Xbox 360, income was down.

I feel bad for anyone that lost a job, but this is the sort of thing that happens when you try to bilk consumers for $60 for a "next-gen" game that has nothing "next-gen" about it.
