Metal Gear Ground Zeroes Announced, MGS Movie Coming
Yes, a new Metal Gear is coming...but it might not be what you expect.
During the 25th anniversary celebration of the famed franchise, MGS creator Hideo Kojima officially unveiled Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes (or perhaps just Metal Gear Ground Zeroes), which will boast the new Fox Engine and has targeted "current generation specifications." So will it be soon...?
Unfortunately, details are few and far between right now, but it's feasible that Ground Zeroes will be an open-world sandbox title, which would represent a significant departure for both Kojima and the Metal Gear franchise. We'll have to wait for extra info but the news didn't stop there. Also at the event, it was revealed that a feature film is in the works; they've got producer Avi Arad, the former Marvel CEO who helped bring you the Spider-Man and X-Men movies.
But as is the case with the game, no more details were revealed. So we have no idea who will play Snake, nor do we know when it'll be in theaters. That being said, given Hollywood's reputation for turning games into movies, we're far more interested in Ground Zeroes.

With a title like : Ground Zero...you're totally right. It has to be about Big Boss creating OH! And with a sand-box style - that's just the absolute perfect way to do so.
What really interests me...is the suit which Big Boss is wearing. ...If this is after Peace Walker...he got the suit back from Portable Ops...which is...just..well interesting I guess.
Wish to see gameplay tomorrow!

I guess a Ground Zeroes is .... there isn't just one Ground Zero there are many....? Who cares though we all know Hideo likes to make fun words for his games.

That said, naysayers of future MGS games be damned. After playing through, and watching the cutscenes unfold in MGS4 again, there is plenty that can be done to expand on this universe. Sunny being saved by Raiden, Eva and Ocelet retrieving Big Boss' body, an adult Sunny etc. No need for these games to end anytime soon. Kojima truly built an amazing franchise that he can expand upon for at least two more generations.

This game is called Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes everywhere else, and reportedly looks *amazing*, no less. It features old Snake, and is still based on stealth, avoiding searchlights and all that - but all in a more open world game environment.
Personally, from what I read elsewhere I think it all sounds *fantastic*.

... But is "Naked Snake" and "Old Snake" two different persons? I would not know, sorry. :)
Anyway, here's the tweets:
"Snake crawled @ avoiding searchlights, killed guard, rode jeep, called in heli for evac. Sounds like MG, but the scale & atmosphere... Wow."
"Ground Zeroes on Fox Engine - rich detail, open world, and Old Snake is back!"

Old Snake is Solid Snake, a clone of Naked Snake/Big Boss and is the protagonist from Metal Gear 1 and 2 sent to defeat Big Boss. He's also the protagonist in MGS1, 2 and 4. He was renamed Old Snake in MGS4 due to his rapid aging caused by the way his body was engineered when he was cloned. Who ever called Big Boss Old Snake got it wrong.

And especially with Arkham City that puzzles me to no end, cause by definition I should *love* it.

This is all coming very fast. Maybe it's a good thing there aren't anymore details. It would be too overwhelming at the current moment. Looks like the Metal Gear title lives on via Kojima.
A movie could be monumental, but there is a solid 95% chance one of the greatest entities in video game history could get donkey jacked via Hollywood.
One can only wonder where the story will take place this time around.

unless its going to be out soon, but then if it was why wait so long?

MGS3 -> MG -> MG2 -> MGS -> MGS2 -> MGS4
This way we can get the 6 games in a collection package or something and be able to play the whole saga in order.

I am hoping this will take the conflict between Zero & Big Boss into the foreground. Also, I hope that it finally progresses the story from MGS3 - P.O. & P.W. both felt like massive diversions to me. Rather than progressing the over all plot they focuses on their own little side story's - I'd almost call them spin offs. I expect this title to seal the gap between MGS3 & MG1 once and for all.
As for the open world aspect, if it follows the similar gameplay structure of MGS already I wont mind it. However I don't want it to turn into GTA where you go to a certain point and activate missions. I hope there is always an objective hanging over the player so it stays focused.
Apparently the gameplay demonstration was 20 minutes, now I really, REALLY want to see this. rumours state it'll be shown at PAX tomorrow... we'll have to wait and see.
