Brothers In Arms: Furious 4 To Become A Brand New IP
Brothers in Arms was a decent franchise but perhaps now's the time to, as the Gearbox boss says, reimagine it.
After some time without an update on the new series installment, Brothers in Arms: Furious 4, Gearbox head honcho Randy Pitchford has finally given us an update. According to what he said at a PAX Prime panel in Seattle this week, the name of the game is gonna change as they're changing the project into a brand new IP.
It seems the ideas emerging from the team went away from the core concepts of the Brothers in Arms franchise, so they needed to "unshackle" themselves from the brand. Pitchford wouldn't say what the new title would be, but he did say we'd learn more when they bring the game to the public at the developer's community day, which is set for September 15. So yeah, not a long wait. Prior to this update, Gearbox announced that Furious 4 had been delayed until 2013.
The last entry, Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, was okay, but you could sense that the series felt...old. And that was back in 2008, so maybe now is a good time for a shift.

This looks like a wacky class based, borderlands inglorious bastards mish mash. It could be great but it just sucks they never finished the BIA games that were based on actually events from real soldiers.

good thing because its just not a brothers in arms game.
sigh, ANOTHER "sequel" thats more new IP than sequel!
bad thing because with name changes and total reinvisionings normally come cancellations.
it looked FAR too cool and different to cancel!
so hopefully this means its been moved from a BIA sequel to a all new IP, but the idea, concept, plot and gameplay will be exactly the same as shown at the reveal!
it had a real inglorious bastards vibe to it, and if theres one hollywood movie that needs to be made into a game its that!
