Rumor: New PS3 Model Hits This Month?
What exactly is new PlayStation 3 model CECH-4000? Good news is we might find out at the end of this month.
Many are wondering what sort of big news to expect from Sony at this year's Gamescom conference, and some believe we'll hear about either a new PS3 model or a price cut...or both. And we're okay with both.
Now, according to European source PlayFront.de citing a NeoGAF user, a new PS3 model will indeed be unveiled and it'll be available in only a few weeks time. The fresh hardware iteration will boast a 500GB hard drive and apparently, a bundle with FIFA 13 will be on shelves as well. That definitely sounds like European info.
But there's little to no chance only Europe will get this new machine, so it'll be interesting to hear if the information is correct come Sony's press conference at TGS. We have reason to believe it's plenty accurate.

As with all of my other retro gaming consoles/handheld systems, I do play my DC on occasion whenever I'm feeling some DC nostalgia.
Some of my favorite DC games that I enjoy going back to are,
Crazy taxi,
Seaman,
Silent Scope,
Wetrix,
Zonbie Revenge,
And Sega Bass Fishing
(just because I have the DC fishing rod controller).
BTW,the whole list of DC games I own is listed in the forums under other consoles or gaming, I think(but I can't get the link cause the forum is down ATM for some reason).

other rumors are saying this will be the 4K model ps3 so it will work with their new 4K TVs.
have to ask whats the point though considering most ps3 games cant do 720P, let alone 1080I, let alone 1080P, let alone anything higher!
talk about hiring a crane to lift a leaf.......
i hope the 500GB part is wrong though, its too low especially since 700GB+ HDDs can be found for dirt cheap these days!
i just bought a 3TB external HDD from myer yesterday for 120 bucks!
anything less than 750GB would be a insult.
$ony should seriously consider creating one model without a bluray drive too, obviously not as the only option but as a option theres allot of people out there that would prefer to go download only if that means they could spend say 200 on a ps3 instead of 300.
im on the fence over the looks though, i like the curvier face but the ripple top looks cheap!
they really need to bring back the piano black finish and chrome tray back from the original, bring back some of that classy high quality look and feel!
$ony are suppose to be premium products, exactly the problem because this gen they have been the exact opposite!
and thats why the company is bleeding money and is at a all time low!

I've had a 500gb drive in mine for a long time and it's pretty darn hard to fill up.

My 1 T HD has already fast zoomed down to only 600GB's so I've been scrambling the last few days to try out the 67 game demos(plus trailers) I still had on my HD.
I finished all the trailers but I still have about 20 demo's left to go & after that I'll check out my GB count again to see how much I've gained back for real games.

It also makes sense that Sony delayed the new SKU until existing stock levels run lower.

Gosh do I hope that it doesn't look like a RUFFLE CHIP. Seriously...what is up with SONY these days?! You can't tell what a SONY product is these days - I mean sure you can by the brand name: SONY written on it, but there used to be a time where you look at a device and figured it be a SONY device.
They create sexy devices such as the PS VITA. But then churn out weird devices such as that one wristwatch or whatever.
Please don't screw up this model and make it neat!!

What makes me mad about Sony, is unlike the 360, where you can remove the hard drive and put it in another unit to migrate your data, the PS3 does not allow this. It simply asks if you want to format the drive or not, and won't permit it's use. This is a testament to the underlying nature of the two companies. Microsoft is a software company. They know that it's your data that must follow you. Sony is a hardware company, and their primary concern is locking the hardware to the user.
Microsoft handles this issue exquisitely!
Sony... Fails... Hard...
I don't have an external drive large enough to back up my 320 BG hard drive, and I've been pretty broke since my move. Out of 320 GB, I have only 30-40 left.
Sony... If you would make a backwards compatible slim, I'd pay EXTRA for that!!!
