Visceral: Screw AAA, We Want "Quad-A" For Dead Space 3
We've all heard of the "AAA" label before.
But that's not good enough for developer Visceral Games, as the team seeks to bring their critically acclaimed Dead Space franchise into another stratosphere of quality. In fact, they want it to be so good, they want it to be called "quad-A." ...oh, but that sounds a little silly.
In speaking to CVG, Dead Space 3 executive producer Steve Papoutsis says they want to excel and go "above and beyond" what they considered to be a "AAA sequel" (we'll agree with that, for the most part). Said Papoutsis:
"A lot of people say ‘triple-A’ and that’s kind of become the norm, with all the ‘big triple-A games’ yadda yadda. No. We want to go beyond triple-A. We want to push to the next level. We’ve taken up just saying ‘quad-A’ all day."
Well, you gotta love the ambition, right? Obviously, "AAA" can be subjective just like anything else but for me, I consider a game to qualify as AAA when it breaks the 9 plateau in scoring. Now, as Dead Space 2 netted exactly the requisite score, I'd say fine, call it AAA. But "quad-A?" Come on. Maybe only Grand Theft Auto V or The Last Of Us has a shot at that.
But hey, Dead Space 3 should totally rock. It's scheduled to arrive on store shelves in February.

Speaking of, I still do hope for a Dante's Inferno 2 one day as well! I really enjoyed the first one. Well, the first half of it anyways (and bits of the second half).

I trust Visceral will make an incredible game. I just hope the new co-op design won't affect the scare factor.
And I also hope EA don't nickel and dime gamers with DLC, codes, Facebook integration and forced online multiplayer to progress in the single player campaign. KEEP THEM SEPARATE!! It's not hard to keep Single player stories separate from multiplayer modes. That way both types of gamer will be happy!!
