Remember Me's Combo Lab: Customize A Deadly Nilin

Capcom's new IP, Remember Me, is looking more and more promising with every passing day. May's too far off!

The latest video to turn some heads is an in-depth gameplay walkthrough, seen below. This focuses on the unique Combo Lab feature, which allows you to create custom combo attacks for the acrobatic protagonist, Nilin.

Creative director Jean-Maxime Morris talks about how it works, and this goes beyond simply stringing strikes together. You can create attacks that will help regenerate health, and even stack abilities one atop the other, leaving enemies completely helpless. Morris says there are around 50,000 possible combinations...which is pretty freakin' insane. Remember, Nilin has to rekindle her lost memories so as you fight, she'll remember more of her combat skills, and then you can use those restored memories to customize.

The game is looking brilliant. The setting, combat & platforming look to be fairly solid from what I have seen in the videos.

I've always wondered what a game like Mirror's Edge would be like in third person, & this is as close as i can imagine it.

I will be keeping a keen moist eye on this one.

Saw this yesterday on Youtube. Game is completely original, with the mechanics looking equally as impressive. Stringing together all your abilities will make for some interesting experimentation (reminds me of how you can string together abilities in Dishonored). Anyway, I have my eye on this one.

Wowsers. A simple elegant idea that's well implemented and keeps you engaged so it doesn't become a button masher. Why don't more devs do stuff like this?

Yes! Up to 8-hit combos it seems.

This means I can create and memorize a combo of my own! Brilliant.

Yeah, although its a JRPG setting and totally different. Instead of just attack or magic, you take the moves you learn and put em together into combos and then when you have enough action points you unleash one from your list. You can name them too, I have one I call "DmC" that launches the enemy and does some fancy slicing in the air :)

Remember Me looks like it could turn out to be a pretty decent game. There seems to be a lot of depth to the combat. The combo lab should keep things interesting. I hope they take it a lot further, but I like what I've seen of the game so far.
