Mass Effect Trilogy Coming, But PS3 Gamers Will Have To Wait
For the most part, BioWare is supporting both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 equally these days, with big new titles launching simultaneously for both platforms.
But the generation didn't start out that way, and that's kinda reflected in the new Mass Effect Trilogy, which is slated to arrive for the upcoming holiday season.
As you might guess, this bundle features all three of the award-winning ME titles, and the news is that it'll release for the Xbox 360 and PC on November 6. That date apparently leaves out the PS3 version, as those who want the Trilogy for Sony's machine will have to wait beyond November 6. Maybe the date for the PS3 version will come soon, we don't know. But we're not really surprised.
Anyway, with a price tag of $59.99, that's a deal. Getting all three of some of the best games of the generation for the price of one shouldn't be ignored, unless of course you've already got all three. Then again, you can bet they'll probably toss in all the extra DLC (which you may never have downloaded), and a few other goodies as well...

I have been complaining that we never got Mass Effect 1 for years and feel it is a good thing. While I have stated previously though, I feel it is far too late now for me to regain my interest in the series. They should have given us ME1 with ME2 in the first place.

Of course, we ARE talking about EA here, so maybe I shouldn't hold my breath.

I played the trilogy back to back to back and can appreciate a few of the changes but I dont think they justify the bastardization of the series. But hey thats what EA does so it was kind of expected.
As for your points, combat is not terrible and I don't understand how the menus could be awful they worked fine for me. Were you one of those people who hated selling loot and managing inventory?
Because guess what a LOT of people love that aspect of RPGs. Mass effect had a random loot system and they just decided to scrap it and streamline the hell out of the sequels because well EA wanted to.
Mass effect went from being a masterpiece RPG, to a corridor shooter with hardly any RPG elements and of the RPG elements hardly made a difference.
I just have no idea what people see in ME2, it had a terrible story that is not even close to bioware standards that was made obsolete by 10 dollar DLC which was supposed to be optional, and yet turned out being part of the canonical lore in the 3rd game. No loot and hardly any customization options, less dialogue options than ME1 although much more than ME3.
Gameplay that devoled into stop and pop gameplay that felt more like gears of war than anything. Enemies that scaled so you never felt like you were leveling up and becoming stronger like in the first game where you could grind if you wanted. They got rid of the Mako and replaced it with a terrible mining metagame instead of just fixing it, then they added the vehicle which was DLC only and again an isolated experience which felt like a terrible minigame and took you out of the experience. I could go on but you get the point. I know its your opinion but dont go around telling people that this is terrible and this is awful etc.
Most people here will probably appreciate the more RPG focus that the first game had.

I just played through the trilogy agaion and agree that, for the most part, the game has aged well. I do not like, however, the inventory system. Never have. Never will. It seemed a tad clunky to me.
And the Mako... that thing drove me crazy.
What I did like about the ME1 inventory system was how much you could customize your party members. The way they dumbed that part down in ME2 and ME3 was too bad.

I also can agree with the Mako, I know why people didn't like it I just had no issues controlling it what so ever. I think they should have just fixed it because even if the planets were mostly barren, it made the galaxy feel big and alive and connected. Which was absent in ME2 and 3 which felt more like loosely connected set pieces, if that makes set.
I missed all the customization you had in ME1, it was the main reason ME2 and ME3 have only been played twice while I have beaten ME1 about 20 times :
Surprised someone read and agreed with my rant lol.

I stand by my assertion that the inventory/menu system is a pain in the ass :) I also stand by my comment that combat was vastly improved in the sequels, so going back to part 1 after playing 2 and 3 can be frustrating.
I actually agree with your comment on the Mako, though. I didn't love the way it handled but having the option really did help planets feel more alive. Wish they had found ways to incorporate it more in the later games.

Regarding the scanning in ME2, yeah, that wasn't all that swift, though scanning Uranus is good for a giggle or two.

I feel like the complaints with the combat disappear as you progress though. I mean you can by the end have a rifle that never overheats and drops things in a couple of hits. The weapon modding was fantastic and I liked looking for new looking armour :)
What ME2 did do better was the hit detection, and the classes all having there special powers like vanguards biotic charge were awesome. I just wish that class system could have been plunked into ME1 as everything else about the game whether it was the story, the choices or just exploring were much better to me.
As for the mako, and the planets, yeah some planets did have Thrasher Maws roaming them which was cool, but I would have rather had barren planets than no planets you know? I wish they had have cleaned it up instead of scrapped it. Maybe had planets have actually small cities or villages on them etc.
I played GTA1 on the pc and I think that helped me not care about how the mako controlled >.< I just never had a problem with it but a lot of my friends did who also loved the game.

I liked how shepard was an avatar, he/she was the vessel for your choices. I loved how big the universe felt, I loved the deep attention to lore and detail that they decided to pay no attention to when making the sequels(I'm looking at you ammo clips)I loved how when you leveled up you felt like you were getting stronger, and you could potential grind and make enemies really easy. It had so much more freedom, and it had a lot of tough choices to make and more gray options it felt.
I hated how in ME2 they decided shepard was going to be this ooh rah bad ass savior of the world regardless of whether or not you wanted that to be how you role played him. ME3 went a step further and put you into this hero of the galaxy role but it felt like his dialogue options were limited.
Anyway enough banter, I am super excited the PS3 people get a chance to play this. Hopefully it will show how awesome the series started out and why some people not just me were severely disappointed with the sequels.

I have the first two titles on 360 (since that's where the series started).
The second and third on PS3 (since that's my platform of choice).
All three on PC (which is considerably better than 360, but I just don't care to play games on my computer unless I have to).

Oh man, if MS loosen the grip on this title I'll definitely buy this trilogy and play them all over again!
