Tecmo Planned Smaller Breasts For DoA5, But Fans Said "NO"
Not big enough.
That's what the fans said about the breasts on the Dead or Alive 5 girls, which surprised developer Tecmo...but shouldn't really surprise too many in the gaming world.
In a recent Gamasutra interview, Team Ninja director Yohei Shimbori said their oversees offices ordered them to tone down the sexuality of the characters in DoA5. But that mandate was reversed when the studio started to gather fan feedback from those who played the DoA5 demo. Said Shimbori:
"We actually got a lot of feedback from people who were playing it, saying, 'We want bigger breasts. Make the characters more like that.' That was kind of surprising."
That being said, the developer has always emphasized the importance of a solid fighting mechanic, which we believe was in full effect in the final product. Therefore, Shimbori believes there's "still room for having sexualized aspects" because it's really just "another layer of entertainment." Okay, I'll go with that.
Yes, it's silly. Certainly a little juvenile. But hey, it's DoA. And it ain't hurtin' nobody, regardless of the so-called "offended."

I can see why it's rated M, when you lose at as a woman there's a scene where the gal is lying there in a pose, panting and bouncing until you interrupt that and are ready to retry the fight. I recognized that right away for what it was, it's for certain folks to "take their time" lol.

I honestly think virtua fighter gets closest as far as having proper martial arts in them. From what I can tell and have looked into they are all real, except for maybe wolfs wrestling style?

I loved that PS1 game where you could create your own fighting style and game (fighter maker), to think what they could do now it the ps3 camera and what LBP have achieved.. making the ultimate martial arts game is a distinct reality.
unfortunately although people who do martial arts would probably love it, for those who don't would most likely find it boring, lol
still, i really would love for someone to make a game based on real styles... oh the possibilities. imagine Wing Chun Vs Choy Li Fut.. xinyi Vs Aikido.. Shotokan Vs TaeKwanDo :D
Saying that, I do find that DOA isn't a million miles away from it, I skipped all DOA games since the PS2 game, so I dont know if DOA evolved in real world fighting styles, but its seems more authentic than I remember. not quite Tekken/ VF realistic, but still not a bad effort. the styles are recognisable, which is a good thing.
so far I'm really enjoying it. just a shame that you need to turn the 'throwdown' off or the game freezes every other move, lol.. I hope they patch that soon!
