Three New PS3 Ultimate Combo Packs Coming In October

The holidays usually enjoy a bunch of packaged deals that save the consumer a bit of cash.

And to help kick things off for the fall, Sony will release three new PlayStation 3 Ultimate Combo Packs in October; each will feature a top-tier title and a controller for $60, which is a definite steal.

This isn't official but many gamers have spotted the listings at VideoGamesPlus, and it appears that these packs will go on sale on October 9. There's one featuring the inFamous Collection with an appropriate Metallic Blue Dual Shock 3 (appropriate if you choose the Good side in the games), one with a Ratchet & Clank Collection and a Charcoal Black controller, and one featuring the God of War Saga with a Deep Red Dual Shock 3. Pictured here is an example of an existing Ultimate Combo Pack; it has the Resistance Dual Pack and and a black controller.

Considering the cost of a new controller ($50), these are great deals. On top of which, these new bundles feature Collections, which offer more than one game...and all the games in question are great. Good stuff.

I'm not sure about the Infamous combo, but I'm pretty sure the ratchet & clank and God of War Origins isn't new. I've seen them on Amazon since forever.

Not GOW:Origins, God of War Saga which contains all the GOW games.

What do you mean by just launched? I KNOW I saw R&C combo pack last year at Fry's electronics. I saw God of War Origins/Collection since last year's holiday.

On second thought, R&C collection is different. My mistake on that. I was thinking the R&C: Crack in time pack.

They have different games.

The old RC collection had TOD, and Crack in Time, while this recent one is the HD collection of the PS2 games.

GOW Origins just contains Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta while GOW Saga contains all the GOW games.

I like the PS3 controllers and all, by now I thought Sony would redesign slighter bigger controllers and fix the 45 degree slope style buttons, mad as f*** for that. Oh well, that's why I bought the custom triggers.

Thought at first it was ridiculous buying trigger extenders for $5 and all I got when they came out was one pair. But that was probably the best $5 i've spent on something other than at subway ^_^

I bought triggers too, they are a life saver but when I get aggressive sometimes I knock one off and that totally messes up what I'm doing.

The combo i've seen was digital camo dualshock 3 with killzone 3. Its for sale at a bestbuy or gamestop.

I'll probably buy the ratchet combo, since I haven't bought the R&C collection seeing as Borderlands 2 has engulfed my interest. However, I would like to see a combo with the ZOE collection and maybe a metatron green controller.

I love my Gioteck triggers. For games that dont give the option to aim/shoot with L2/R2 (and yes i know most people prefer L1/R1) i actually opened my urban camo controller and did some cut and soldering to flip L1 with L2 and R1 with R2.

Sony should provide this option in the XMB - oh well - here's hoping for the PS4
