XCOM May Be Undergoing Some Pretty Significant Changes
Everyone has been waiting on the XCOM remake from Firaxis, but there's another XCOM game that has fallen out of the public eye this past year...
It's supposedly still in the works at 2K Marin, and now it seems the game may have undergone a serious alteration. According to Kotaku, a recent marketing survey has furnished the publish with new screenshots. The title in question was supposed to be a retro FPS of sorts, but that looks like a third-person shooter, doesn't it?
It seems they're now trying to make the game like SOCOM or Republic Commando, as the player will be in command of a squad and the view will not be in the first-person. Furthermore, it's possible the project could end up as a digital-only title, as the survey asked how gamers would feel if the title was available digitally for only $30. For now, 2K has nothing to say on the matter.
Whenever projects disappear for an extended amount of time, you can bet something unexpected has occurred in the development process.
