Assassin's Creed III DLC Season Pass Offers 25% Savings
Yesterday, a Season Pass for Assassin's Creed III was spotted as part of the Gold Edition. Now, that great Season Pass is official.
Ubisoft announced the option today; it will "grant access to all five upcoming downloadable content packs" and it'll be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
That DLC will include The Tyranny of King Washington, a new single-player campaign told through three episodic content packs, which allows players to view an alternate history pertaining to the American Revolution. Things could've been different... Said executive producer Sebastien Puel:
"History is our playground – and AC teams have always loved playing with historical facts and their consequences as a way to better understand a time period. While Assassin’s Creed III concentrates on history as it happens, we wanted to take some liberties with this DLC and tell you how things ‘could have happened.’”
On top of that new single-player experience, other DLC will feature new maps and characters for the online multiplayer, which should be a refreshing change of pace from all the online shooters out there. If all this sounds intriguing, you can pre-order the Season Pass at GameStop and Best Buy right now; it'll cost you $29.99 (or 2400 Microsoft Points), and it provides a savings of 25%. Lastly, Season Pass subscribers get the first DLC pack one week before everyone else, so...

having said that, feel compelled to note we are definitely in a post Mass Effect 3 world, where publishers have no qualms letting you know they are holding content until after release, and that you'll have to pay more if you want the full experience...

If this becomes a trend I'm done with console gaming until these publishers smarten up.
Why did game devs used to put as much content on disc as they could last generation and now it seems like they try to put the least they need to and sell the rest to you for the following year.
Oh well I'll just wait and get the Game of the year edition.

Ok, maybe I'm ranting a bit here. I just want to be able to continue to buy used games. I don't like seeing them complaining about used game sales, when at the same time you see these planned DLCs way ahead of the game's release date.
