PSXE Poll Update: Gamers Unimpressed With Resident Evil 6

Resident Evil 6 experienced a surprise split decision of sorts, as review scores from major sources were all over the place.

This has also led to some heated discussions concerning the general quality of the game, although according to the results of our latest poll, it appears the skeptical are winning.

The majority of participants said they'll be passing on RE6 regardless of scores, and many more said they'd probably wait on picking it up. A few die-hard fans said they'd be grabbing Capcom's latest the instant it hit store shelves, but one would normally expect a more positive response to an installment in one of gaming's most historic franchises. Well, bad things tend to happen when you mess with a winning formula, even if there are those who argue such a transition was necessary in order to "adapt."

For now, we'll leave that controversy behind and focus on the PlayStation Vita. It hasn't sold as well as Sony anticipated and gamers everywhere are waiting on games they really want for the system. Several such titles are indeed on the horizon, but if you're a Vita owner, are you disappointed? Are you planning to get rid of it? Or do you just plain love the thing?

If I were disappointed already, I should probably consider myself impatient too. I'm going to cut Sony some slack, I think they deserve it. The device isn't even a year old in the US. What's the alternative, manufacture my own handheld gaming console? I'm definitely not selling it just so someone else can buy it at a discount.

I think the Vita is an impressive little machine. I've also got the PS3 that I'm buying games for. Patience is a very good friend to my wallet.

I hope I'll be happy with my Vita. Now that we have an article about the Vita I can mention this w/o being off topic:
Looks like that 4gb memory card is back in the bundle deal!! That saves some of us a few bucks!

All I'll say is more people should give RE6 a chance even if that means waiting until it hits $20. It's worth a play, even if renting it.

I'll be doing that wait. Maybe I'll get a taste for it about the time the next Resident Evil movie comes out.

World, don't think that just because of some reviews that the game sucks or something. Re6 is a great game and I recommend you atleast rent it and see for yourself. This game in no way, shape or form ever deserved a 4/10. If you have a buddy to play with, then your fun factor whilst in game just flew off the roof!

I played the demo and read the reviews so I know what I figure it's worth.

I gave RE4 a chance and it disappointed me in every way. So I was hesitant at giving RE5 a try, but I told myself that surely it would be better then the previous one. I was wrong in that regard too. RE6 isn't touching my machine unless a friend brings it over to play co-op.

I'll get it when it's in the bargain bin if I get my coop buddy to agree with the purchase. :)

Lesson: You don't throw out what works, you build upon it.

Guess I can't participate in this poll. But I did just get Me and My Katamari for PSP, yay.

Final Fantasy Type-0, where you at? Why is Square Enix doing even more terrible things to itself by not localizing it?

The 23 people on my friends list i've played with, and my girlfriend and my friends who have xbox all love the game. I actually went over to a friends house to play split screen and the way it works is pretty epic. You share ammo and herbs making it much more difficult than playing with someone online. Still hate the 360 controller, its like my hands are sweating and get sticky even though my hands are dry.

As for my vita, i play my old favorite RPG's but im really looking foward to Soul Sacrifice.
The ps1 games i play on my vita are Xenogears, FF6, ff9, and im hoping to finish ff7 for the first time. I just re-read this paragraph and i see what i did there...

You sure you played Re6? I don't think that player to player can share anything. Both players can pick up the same ammo pack or herb off the floor, but actually share, you can't. Unless im missing something?

Just like in diablo 3 , you got you re own loot ( ammo , herb , skill point ) when you play online .The reason why there was no need to implement a share system like in 5 .

It s not the case when laying on the same machine , you have to carefully decide who need the items more .

Many people were mixed on RE 5 and there's even a segment of RE fans that can't stand 4 so the poll results don't surprise me. Personally, I think the game is decent, Leon's and Ada's campaigns were good enough that I'd say it's a 7/10 the thing that's unfortunate about that however is this is a series that for a long time was at the very top of the industry so 7/10, even if considered 'good' on a rating scale, isn't really that good for RE. But is what it is. I kind of expected it to turn out how it did after playing the demo and given the direction the series has gone in.

As for Vita, I really like the system and wish it was doing much better. Can't wait for AC Liberation this holiday and Tearaway, Soul Sacrifice and Killzone next year.

I have barely touched my PS3 since getting a Vita. Just a little Rainbow Moon here and there.

After 100% completion on Gravity Rush I started right in on Uncharted: GA (which is excellent). I already have a big backlog on the Vita and more great games are right around the corner.

Haters at this point are being just that: haters.

Well, I don't think anyone should sell their PSVita. Sony did say that it had a 10yr life cycle of it's own. Plus all the classics their bringing to the small screen on the go, no one should sell their PSVita just yet.

RE6 was a freaking disaster!
if theres one company that consistently keeps surprising me this gen, its crapcom!
but sadly not in a good way.
every time they release a sequel to their franchises i say it CANT possibly be worse than the last!
and somehow they manage to prove me wrong.
case in point with DMC 4 and the new DMC, and RE5 and RE6.
funny how every time crapcom does a sequel fans are hurling feces at them.
and when there doing new IPs fans throwing them parties!
i wonder why..........

as for the vita you need to put a option of already sold it in there.
me and a few friends bought ours on release day and all have decided to sell them because besides ACL, which i played yesterday and is meh, theres nothing really coming to the system.
i dont like sitting on 430 dollar pieces of plastic saying yea they will be used in 6+ months time.
in that case ill sell it and buy it again in 6+ months time.

one of the many, many, MANY reasons why i hate $ony!
they CONSTANTLY screw up platforms, they CONSTANTLY come out and say yea we f*cked up, we shouldent of done this, this and this, we swear it wont happen again.
than their next system comes out and their up to their old tricks again!
they know the mistakes their doing are hurting them, they know what the bloody problem is, so why dont they fix it like they say they will!?

I have been horrified by the Vita's sales figures especially in Japan. After that first week just a complete nosedive. I don't get it. The PSP had a lot of success in Japan often beating out Ninetendo's handelds many weeks on the sales charts. The Vita not even close. It's getting outsold most weeks 8:1 by its nearest competitor. I thought the Vita would be much more competitve than it has been. I suspect price and lack of system defining games are hurting Vita sales.

As for RE6. I say give it a chance based on Leon's campign alone. It's pretty awesome. I got more of a survival horror vibe in Leon's surprisingly long campign than I did the entire RE5 game so I am happy. This game is a blast online. Absolute co-op bliss. Oh if use a mic and you looking for co-op friend feel free to add me. My psn ID id Jamiecolts.

Re 6 is pretty good most of the time ( especially Leon ) , this is when you re not stuck doing a chase sequence of sort where you have extremely limited time to complete ( or give too limited place to errors ) and sometime with the occasional bad camera angle that make it even worse .

The other complaint i have is the occasional crossover that force you to replay the same boss fight ( not too bad if you re able to get another player that is at the same place in another campaign to join in ) and being stuck in the same environment in most of the last 2 chapter in each campaign .

Another disappointment is the graphics because you can easily see the lack of effort for some art of the game . It can get from great to awful real fast sometime .This is especially concerning Chris campaign ( especially one of it s chase sequence ) .

One part of the game that i got nothing bad to say about beside maybe the lack on maps is mercenary mode, that mode is a real blast to play ( especially in duo ) .The quickshot and roll feature make it even better then in re4 and 5 .

All in all , i had lots of fun playing most chapters and i ll replay them at least once with the other character i did nt pick .

If anyone care , i give it a user score of 8.5 cause the + side easily overshadow the complain i have about the game . Review-wise a 7.5 - 8.

lol.... it was not my intention at first to write this much :p

I loved my Vita until one day I could no longer get it to turn on, in which there was a quick fix for it, but I didn't know about until after I had already returned it & paid off my then-overdue bills with the money.

Anyway, I really miss not having it & I've kept my 16GB memory card with some games on it, plus Hot Shots Golf, Wipeout & Uncharted for whenever I can afford to buy another one.

I really want that white AC:Liberation bundled one, but being out of work for soooo long & being dirt-broke anymore has put a real kabosh on plan A. Hopefully though, plan B is now in effect so if my income tax check is enough to swing it, & if they still have a AC bundle somewhere too, I'll be able to get another one.

But if not, I'm sorry to say there is no Plan C, & it could wind up being a looong, looong, time coming before I'm able to get another Vita.

Damn, damn, damn...I wish Kickstarter would allow me to do a "Help broke-a$$ Saint get a Vita" funding gig.
