GameStop Delays MGS 4, Pushes Up FF XIII

Earlier today, PS3 owners got a bit of bad news, but then it was replaced with a bit of intrigue and wonder...yep, a roller-coaster ride, thanks to GameStop and their shifting release dates.

First off, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, previously holding a November 1, 2007 release date for the retailer, has apparently slipped to March 1, 2008. Konami has not made any official announcement of a delay, and if you examine any and all recent news from the developer, they claim it's still set for the fall. However, GameStop has been right about these things in the past, primarily because they require a realistic release window for pre-orders.

So that's no good. But at the same time, one other title got moved: Final Fantasy XIII. And it wasn't delayed, but actually moved up to "December 2007." The Square-Enix party rages as we speak, and they showed off a brand new trailer for the game, but there was no mention of it coming out this year. Therefore, we have two unconfirmed release date changes popping up in GameStop's database, but which - if any - is accurate?

Well, if they're both accurate, then replacing MGS 4 with FF XIII isn't exactly a bad thing. Either would succeed in pushing plenty of PS3 units during the holiday season. But we have to wait until Konami and Square-Enix clears up this date shifting.
