PS3 News: PlayStation HUB - PlayStation 3 Online Details

PlayStation HUB - PlayStation 3 Online Details

Next-Gen.Biz has broken a pair of big stories today. Not only have they come up with details on the PlayStation 3 launch, but they've also got the scoop on how the PlayStation 3 will be taking on Xbox Live.

According to Next-Gen's source, the service, entitled "PlayStation HUB" will support online play for the PS3 as well as the PSP. The service will require a subscription and (most likely) a monthly fee, although no pricing details were given.

From Next-Gen.biz:

"PlayStation HUB will offer PlayStation 3 owners much the same services as Xbox Live, including chat, downloadable demos, independent games and online play. Sony boss Howard Stringer is pushing for all media content to be available for distribution over PlayStation HUB, such as music and movies, thus opening up a powerful iTunes-like distribution network for Sony. "

As is usually the case, Sony declined comment, stating that the company would make their official announcements at E3, which takes place in mid-May.
