The Last Of Us Comic Series Focuses On Ellie's Back Story
The Last Of Us probably won't be ready until a little later in 2013, but Naughty Dog and Dark Horse Comics will give you a little taste in the spring.
During a panel at the New York Comic Con event, the two aforementioned companies revealed "The Last Of Us: American Dreams," a four-issue comic book series that provides a back story for the Ellie character. According to the PlayStation Blog, this will "expose her personality and the motivations that drive her."
The series is being made by Naughty Dog creative director Neil Druckmann, artist and writer Faith Erin Hicks, and colorist Christina Strain. Dark Horse Comics will put it out, and they'll also deliver the art book that will come out alongside the game in 2013. You know, this is great and all, but if you really look at it, we're getting a couple of hints concerning the final release date for the highly anticipated title, The Last Of Us.
If the comic book is due out in spring 2013 and the game is simply set for "2013," there's the obvious implication that we can't expect Naughty Dog's latest to hit any earlier than...maybe summer? The blog post also says we'll get more information on that art book "in the coming months," so a Q1 or Q2 2013 release seems unlikely. Maybe it'll be a hot holiday release for next year...? Could be huge that way.

I think a moody graphic novel would have been a better way to go, that looks too comic-y.
I see the groundwork being laid for a franchise here.
