Mass Effect Film Lands New Writer

The "Mass Effect" film is moving forward, but publisher Legendary Entertainment has opted for a fresh scriptwriter.

According to Variety, Legendary is going with Morgan Davis Foehl; he will replace Mark Protosevich ("Thor," "I Am Legend") who penned the first version of the script back in 2008.

If this goes through, it will be the first of Foehl's scripts to be produced. That being said, he does have plenty of experience: He's the former assistant editor for the popular FX show, "Rescue Me," and the Adam Sandler comedy, "I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry." His credits also include an adaptation of the Top Cow comic book, "Crosshair," as well as "Alien Sleeper Cell." There's no knowing when the "Mass Effect" movie will hit theaters but given the popularity of the award-winning franchise, it should be a hit whenever it arrives.

Then again, this is a movie based on a game, so...
