New Mass Effect Will Utilize Frostbite
Well, it's not exactly surprising and for most fans, this is probably quite encouraging.
As revealed at BioWare's blog, the next Mass Effect will utilize the popular and critically acclaimed Frostbite engine.
BioWare Montreal studio director Yanick Roy talked about how the next entry in the award-winning franchise will take advantage of many of the same systems the Dragon Age III: Inquisition team has developed for Frostbite. You also don't have to worry about the new series iteration being a drastic departure from the norm, as Roy added that the fresh ME will be "very respectful" of the franchise:
"You can still expect the pillars the franchise is known for to be fully intact though, including diverse alien races, a huge galaxy to explore, and of course rich, cinematic storytelling."
It has been said that the new Mass Effect is in the "early development stages" and in fact, BioWare is seeking fan feedback. It'll be interesting to see ME4 running on Frostbite, won't it? So will it be a next-gen project...?
Presumably.

The Mass Effect universe is so gigantic (literary speaking!) that there's plenty, plenty room for new discoveries, conflicts, problems and challenges.
As much as I love the various friends and acquaintances of Shepard, I really look forward to build a new character, friends, experience a *new* story.
Omg how I look forward to the next Mass Effect.

There is something about developing on familiar grounds. It enables you to be more focused on the creative aspects. Less bugs, less bottlenecks, more effective development. And they really, really knew how to use the Unreal engine.

I have only played ME2 & 3(demo). Never touched 1st part. Which ironically, people say was the only RPG in the franchise.
Know why I say all this? Remember a little game called COD? Yeah, yeah. The way they are a SHOOTER with multiplayer? Yeah? In which you may customize everything, earn experience, money, rank? Yeah?
Well ME2 was basically that, but in a single player mode. Yayyyyyy. Misleading advertisement. Yayyyyyy!!!
No, but really, good game xDDD

The fact that they left out combat and RPG makes me even more suspicious that this is going to somehow be an FPS/TPS with straight up deathmatch multiplayer.
I'm almost positive that EA is trying to get bioware to figure out how to put a competitive multiplayer mode into the new ME game. Now I don't think it would be bad, especially if you picked one of the 6 classes and duke it out that could be really unique and cool.
My concern is if they go with a time period when those powers aren't fully developed in the lore and it becomes a generic sci fi shooter.
Time will tell this one, but I don't expect to care at all considering each iteration has been less RPG more shooter than the one before it.

Mass Effect without Shepherd .. well its like Uncharted without Drake.
Makes no sense whatsoever.
