EA Games Boss: Fans Needn't Worry About Dead Space 3
The fans are still skeptical (and even annoyed), but EA Games vice president Patrick Soderlund has repeated what EA has already said many times:
Dead Space 3 will not abandon that which made the first two titles so freaky. In other words, that survival/horror element will still be in full effect, despite the addition of more action.
In speaking to OXM UK, Soderlund tried to explain why all the trailers for the upcoming sequel have showed off so much slam-bang action. Essentially, they wanted to show gamers what's different about the title:
"...and I said: 'You know what, we need to apply the same thinking to marketing as we do on our games'. It's easy to get into a habit. We should ask ourselves: 'Why are we doing it this way? What's the message that we want to give the consumer? Is this really reflecting what the game is?'
In the case of Dead Space the first thing we showed was what the team decided to do in the trailers, and then all we heard was: 'Well this is not Dead Space, I want indoor horror scenes.' And like, yeah, it's in the game too, but they wanted to show you what they added to the game that they think is awesome, because they love Dead Space."
In the end, Soderlund says the fans should simply trust developer Visceral Games "because they made two other awesome games" and they're not going to ditch what the series is about. All of this is very important, and will hopefully appease some of the Dead Space followers who have looked at the third series entry with a mix of disappointment and irritation. For now, we're willing to take EA's word on the matter. ...for now.

Will Visceral pull it off?
We'll see when it's here, for now, I trust their words.
