Dishonored Exceeds Expectations, Will Become A Franchise
In our estimation, Dishonored should've sold more. But that doesn't mean it isn't a success.
In fact, the game has actually exceeded internal expectations, and Bethesda PR manager Pete Hines told Destructoid that such a solid reception will likely lead to sequels. Said Hines:
"I can tell you that Dishonored is far exceeding our sales expectations, which is especially cool considering it’s new IP facing a host of well-established franchises this quarter. We did terrific numbers again this past weekend, both in stores and on Steam, where Dishonored was listed as the #1 selling title over the holiday weekend. And Dishonored has really sold well overseas. So, we’re very pleased and appreciate all the fans that have supported Dishonored and [developer Arkane Studios].
We clearly have a new franchise."
Dishonored came in as the fourth-best selling game of October and although we don't have total sales estimates at this time, we're happy to hear this. Such a ridiculously awesome game deserves to be noticed, although given the story, we're not entirely sure how they'd do a sequel...

Hopefully I'll get to pick this game up soon, although I will admit that the only thing putting me off is the first-person perspective....
But never mind that, it's on my list.

I am really very happy to hear this. I am actually relieved!
Now that Steam has arrived for Linux I am frequently checking out that store, and I've noticed Dishonoured climbed to number one on their chart.
This is one IP that most definitely deserves to become a franchise.

As for games there's more or less confirmed rumours over the entire board in regards to Linux support from various engines, so things are really, really gaining momentum now.
These days I am playing Serious Sam 3, Amnesia Dark Descent and Team Fortress natively on Linux and having a blast. A great time to be a Linux enthusiast!

id like to see them do something a little different though, its going to be hard to do a direct sequel.
id like to see it like AC, similar gameplay but in a totally different era, totally different weapons, and a totally different local.
oh, and dont forget to add WAY more ways to silently knock out enemies!
it amazes me how popular stun guns, and things like that were so popular last gen but current gen games have semed to have forgotten they exist.
i remember going onto the workshops roof and seeing that electric firing device, and thought oh that would be so cool if you could fire multiple beams out of it and adjust the amps to either stun or fry enemies!
maybe next time.......

Dishonored

I have a bit more faith in humanity knowing that this game sold well.
