New The Last Of Us Character Introduced At Spike VGAs

There are several reasons to tune into the Spike TV Video Game Awards next week. One of them is the coolness that is Samuel L. Jackson.

But they should also be blowing the lid off a few surprises and announcements, and that includes the unveiling of a new character in Naughty Dog's hotly anticipated The Last Of Us.

As GTTV host Geoff Keighley Tweeted:

"Meet a new LAST OF US character and so much more one week from tonight at VGAs on Spike."

It could be the female character seen to the right in the provided pic; I don't recall seeing her in any previous footage. We've also already met Bill, who was on display in a fantastic cut-scene in which Ellie showed off her spunky side. As for the VGAs, they will air on December 7 at 9:00 p.m. EST on Spike TV; they will also be available on MTV 2, MTV Tr3s, Spike.com, GameTrailers.com, and Xbox LIVE. And you know, it's tough to disagree with most of the nominees; gotta love Journey getting seven nods.

What happened to the zombie like creatures shown in the first trailer? They've been strangely absent

They probably don't want to over-expose them. Anyway during that extended demo where Joel ended up down in the dark I wondered if you'll encounter any then...

I hope not. I'll pee my pants.

its the games anaversary, so id hope to see a hell of allot more than a new character!
hopefully there will be a all new demo being shown off, and maybe this time something a bit different.
weve seen the combat, so lets see something a bit different, its suppose to be a survival game so lets see some bits of that.
and of course the infected, we still havent seen those.
id like to see a release date, but that probably wont happen till E3 so maybe a launch window?
something more specific than what we already have, hell we dont even know if its releasing next year!

I'd rather hear a release date than see yet more footage. I'd rather go into this game not knowing every character beforehand, I'd like some element of surprise going in.

I know I don't have to watch the broadcast but this being the internet, it'll be really hard not to see something about it somewhere.

That's why I'm imposing a blackout of TLU trailers on myself.
