The Phantom Pain Revealed, Might Be Tied To Metal Gear Solid?

They said they'd reveal some never-before-seen projects at the 2012 Video Game Awards, and so they have.

During the show, which is taking place tonight, Moby Dick Studio showed off a new IP: The Phantom Pain. A brief trailer followed and it showed a man in a hospital with apparent amnesia. We also know that the Swedish studio's website presents us with the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 logos, so that's promising for console owners.

Little is known about this developer right now, but they're hyping their game by saying they seek to ""deliver an uncompromising, exciting, and touching game experience to people all around the globe." There's also an interesting rumor that says The Phantom Pain might somehow be connected with the legendary Metal Gear Solid franchise, as the dude in the trailer really does look a lot like Snake. And furthermore, as noted by GameSpot, Moby Dick CEO Joakim Mogren's first name is an acronym for Kojima. Hmm...

This could be very intriguing.

Yea I thought it was a new game but I saw hints of mgs. His eye wound is where big boss was shot, the unmistakable mullet, volgins suit from snake eater, and a few others. Looks great if it's new. Plus it does seem like an anagram.

Connected? It is MGS Ground Zeroes...

And it's not snake, it's Big Boss. Snake is a clone of Big Boss.

"The About Us page says Moby Dick's CEO is Joakim Mogren. Many eagle-eyed readers have pointed out that "Joakim" is an anagram for "Kojima," hinting that the Phantom Pain could in fact be a coded trailer for Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. "Mogren" also contains the word "Ogre," suggesting a possible connection to Kojima's Project Ogre."

I don't like to quote but they put it better than I would have.

Look at that picture of the title in the article.

Notice the random lines and missing parts of some of the letters?

Zoom in to the image. You can spell Metal Gear Solid V above The Phantom Pain.

I looked really hard and can kinda make out some writing. It does look like something was writen above it. It did have a supernatural element tho. But so does mgs. Could this be where big boss was cloned in a patriot human experiment lab? I swear big boss had a left hand last time we saw him...

There are people in the VIP section of the Konami party wearing Phantom Pain/Moby Dick Studios t-shirts.

Another Metal Gear Spin off... Hmmmm.... this is making me uneasy. As there was news stating the good relationship between Platinum and Konami...

Sorry for the double post but I just saw the trailer. Generally very interesting. If this is MGS5... There are some interesting reference to prior MGS games especially MGS3.

I think my only problem is that you're playing as a blind person from a third person perspective... It just doesn't really present the characters the situation very well. But of course this could just be the introduction sequence to the game.

I belive it is MGS an I beleive we could call it Metal Gear Liquid, because the main character have only one hand and we know that Ocelt had lend a hand from Liguid :). And it seem that the time line is before MGS4, patriots had send a liquidation group to kill liquid and make it like terrorist attack on military hospital.

I noticed the burning unicorn near the end of the trailer. It's the same unicorn that Kojima simulated in his comparison photos for his new FOX engine. Anyone remember?

surely ground zeros and mgs 5 cant be released about the same time. I think ground zeros will be mgs 5 and not an open world game. They are playing us... I like it!
