The Phantom Pain Screenshots Surface
The Phantom Pain had a rousing debut at this past weekend's Spike TV 2012 Video Game Awards.
Some have assumed it's somehow connected to the iconic Metal Gear Solid franchise, as the character seen in the trailer with the eye patch resembles Snake. As for why they're hiding the game's full identity, visit the NeoGAF forums for some possible explanations.
Now, developer Moby Dick has released new screenshots, which you see here. They're taken from that trailer so if you haven't seen it, this is your first glance at a very promising (and apparently highly polished) title. The mystery continues as nobody has really heard of the development team in question, and the CEO's first name is Joakim, which is an acronym for Kojima.
Perhaps this is a next-gen title that may or may not be a spin-off of MGS. Or maybe they just don't want to steal the thunder of the recently announced Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. Whatever the reason(s), we expect to see more of this title in due time...and when we do, there might be a whole lot of amazed gamers out there.

As for why snake has a fake hand, it could be a dream type sequence or it could be real and we find out that snake gets his arm replaced by a genome soldier in an experimental surgery or something. My main reason for thinking its in a dream or something is that at the end it says, He has come too, which to me means he has woken up.
I mean, that HAS to be snake, it looks exactly like him if it is not something to do with MGS then Kojima is just a tease, but there are so many references to MGS in that trailer, the captions "no where to hide" was from MGS4, the flag at the beginning is the union jack which could be a little poke at Jack who turns into raiden, Volgens(or whoever the electric bad guy from 3 is) suit is in there on the flaming guy I think, and it looks like at the end you see psycho mantis.
Either way totally excited about it whatever it is.

This is Konami building hype for the game....
If you dig down into it, Moby Dick is a start up that magically appeared very recently, the domain name for the website http://www.mobydickstudio.se/ was only registered a month ago, and expires in 2013.
A random startup doesn't show up on the scene and then produce a trailer of THAT quality and then have that trailer play at the VGA. I mean... come on.
There is a twitter page for Joakim, it is full of typical things to say, and completely random things too, it is LIKE someone from KojPro is trying to throw us off.
On his twitter he talks a lot about everyone having a "phantom pain". The 'fake' arm is part of that, and is a physical manifestation of the 'phantom pain' the character has, and we all know that Big Boss has had a very hard life, and experienced MANY tragic events. My conclusion is that the trailer is a section of MGS:GZ which takes place in some sort of dream state in Big Boss' mind, perhaps controlled/brought on by some sort of Physcho Mantis character (or maybe the real one?). Or it could be his Ogre project which is related to MGS.
The tag line for the original MGS:GZ promotional was "From FOX; two phantoms were born", and since the guy from the MGS:GZ trailer is all scared on his face, the guy from the TPP trailer with bandages COULD be that guy.
One of the guys walking around VGA with the Phantom Pain team was Kyle Cooper, who was a notable title sequences developer for MGS 2 + 3.
The camera work, narrative and just about everything is heavily influenced by MGS, and seems like it definitely came from KojPro.
Also,
Joakim Mogren = Kojima mOGREn
Finally,
The title image for The Phantom Pain, CLEARLY has lines and parts of the letters are 'overlapped' by something else, that something else matches up perfectly with Metal Gear Solid V. Well, the second word is 100% GEAR, you can see the A perfectly.

This could be his recovery interrupted by the patriots or maybe its his own organisation trying a rescue and also cleaning house but big boss is totally out of it on meds and doesn't recognise anyone while tripping titanic ballz.

Anywho. I'm cautiously anticipating this game due to it being THE PHANTOM PAIN and interesting looking in that respect.

And it's an actual part of a new styled hype-train for MGS Ground Zeroes.
At least, that's what I'm thinking so far.
