Naughty Dog: The Last Of Us Multiplayer Won't Be "Tacked On"
Those who still love and appreciate the single-player gaming experience have been getting more and more suspicious as this generation has progressed.
Many have wondered if, due to the multiplayer explosion, developers are utilizing more resources for multiplayer, thereby sacrificing resources for the campaign. On the flip side, there are multiplayer fans who are worried that their favorite feature will feel tacked on in a single-player-oriented title.
But hey, we're talking about Naughty Dog, here. Uncharted had multiplayer, too, and did anyone think the option detracted from those amazing campaigns? I sure didn't. And that multiplayer was pretty damn solid, too. As for The Last Of Us, Naughty Dog community strategist Arne Meyer said we don't have to worry about anything; in the Comments over at the PlayStation Blog, he made it quite plain:
"We don’t approach [multiplayer] in any of our games as tacked on. And we also always have separate teams working on the different components so that we can maintain full focus on making [single-player] and [multiplayer] up to our standards."
Those standards are through the roof, too. We all know that. Personally, I'm on the single-player side but I still want the most complete package possible, one that satisfies as many gamers as possible. Nothin' wrong with that. And Naughty Dog is just the team to do it.

That's ok with me though, at least they understand their fans. It's really frustrating me seeing Sony Santa Monica push the mp in GoW so hard. I know its new, and they want people interested, I get that! But I'm a fan because of SP and high standards the games have! Show me something that made me fall in love with the series to begin with! But the mp does look intriguing to say the least! ;)
Anything ND does I have complete confidence in. They are a very dedicated team and that shows in their work.

These guys can spin it however they want, separate teams is all well and good but the fact remains that two teams on one game means money/resources gets split between the two.

simple matter of the fact though is they said they have a separate team working on the MP.
so wouldent the game benefit from MP being canceled and that team being used to improve the SP?
im intrigued to see what they do with the MP, im hoping they will do something different and interesting with it.
but that said id much rather see the whole studio focused on making the campaign as good as it can be.
and hell at the worst thing that could happen by that result is the game is finished earlier so we get the game sooner.
the best result, well, due to the extra manpower we were able to cram a few extra things into the game, and had extra time to polish it.
worthy sacrifice for multiplayer no?
bottom of the line is simple, there just adding the MP to help slow used sales and trade ins, and also hopefully gain a sale or two.
thats the ONLY reason their adding MP!
