New Mass Effect "In Good Hands," Has Vague Release Window
So when can you expect the next Mass Effect to arrive? Oh, don't be so impatient...Dragon Age III is coming, too, ya know.
Anyway, according to Mass Effect 3 producer Mike Gamble, the die-hard franchise fans can expect the new installment to show up between late 2014 and mid-2015, as he recently informed Gamer Syndrome.
He also talked about why development is now taking place at BioWare Edmonton rather than BioWare Montreal. ...okay, no, he couldn't say why the change occurred, but he did confirm that fans don't have to worry about a significantly different presentation or style. No, it'll be all sorts of familiar.
"While I can't comment on why it changed studios, fans can expect a similar style of choices and action that they've come to know in Mass Effect. Casey Hudson is very much involved in the new Mass Effect game, as well as many from Edmonton. BioWare Montreal is a great studio and they did fantastic with the multiplayer for Mass Effect 3, so fans should know the series is in good hands."
As most of you know, I've never been a fan of the sci-fi setting, but the inherent quality of the Mass Effect franchise simply cannot be denied. And considering the time frame, it looks like the next entry could become one of the very best titles of the next generation.

I just hope the new Mass Effect can successfully recapture the magic of the first. AND that it can have the same "HOLY S***" moments the second and third games had.
Let the players work up to it, don't go all Call of Duty on us with explosions and bombs and gunfire every 30 seconds. Make the first 3-5 hours all about the characters and the setting, dialogue, exploration and history of the universe. It makes the action and plot twists all the more rewarding towards the end.

I feel like its probably being put in the hands of a team who is more experienced with action games like FPS and TPSs.
I can't see them going back to their RPG roots and making a game in the same vein as ME1. Each game was more action based and streamlined despite what they said about ME3 having more RPG elements they weren't anything more than what Call of Duty offers in terms of gun modifications etc.
I want loot, and customization, missions that are all dialogue based, missions that just build the lore and have no combat in them. That to me is an RPG, not just having a gun you can put a scope on or a skill tree that reduce .5 seconds off of your ability cooldowns.
But I think they are just going to push this more and more towards the shooter genre as far as gameplay is concerned. Sure it might have the best story any shooter(except Bioshock) has ever had but I wont be interested if they are stripping all that I loved from the first game from it.
But I obviously have to wait until it is released or we get more info to actually judge the game but right now I'm not even remotely interested.
Much more interested in CDprojekt Reds Cyberpunk game. THAT looks like it will be awesome.

I dont know what this studio has worked on but I hope they are credible and don't just make a Mass Effect shooter of sorts :(
You should get ME1 on PSN I think you would really like it, if you already haven't.
Oh yeah, everything CDprojekt has done I have loved. They know how to make great RPGs and make the choices you do make feel like they have weight to them. Plus you know they treat their customers with so much respect, free DLC patches and updates, no DRM...they are amazing like that. The new game they are working on couldnt come sooner :)

I hope the dev change does cause SOME change. It's only right to keep trying new things. Hopefully those will be good new things though.
