PS3 Owners Almost Got To Play Baldurs Gate: Enhanced Edition
Baldurs Gate was a role-playing phenomenon back in the 90s, and no fan of the genre has forgotten that name.
Some will call the Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance titles for the PS2 bastardized and dumbed-down versions of the original PC classic(s) and to some extent, those haters are correct. However, I will always maintain that the Dark Alliances were also great games in their own right.
That being said, did you know that Baldurs Gate: Enhanced Edition was considered for the PS3? This according to DualShockers citing the Twitter feed of creative director Trent Oster, who said they spoke to Sony about the possibility but in the end, the complexity of the project was just too much. It was the control/interface issue:
"We talked with Sony about #BGEE for #PS3 In the end, the rework to keep the fun and fix the control / UI for console was just too much."
This may be the issues Activision Blizzard are facing with trying to bring Diablo III to consoles and admittedly, that style of gaming is probably best reserved for PC. Still, if done correctly, it would be great for console owners to get to play such games, especially Baldurs Gate: Enhanced Edition. Me, I wish the Heroes of Might and Magic games had come to consoles somehow.
