Tomb Raider Multiplayer Details Include Interesting Modes
We knew the Tomb Raider reboot would boast multiplayer, but we didn't have any concrete or confirmed details.
Now, thanks to this month's Official Xbox Magazine (and as summarized by a Tomb Raider forum member), we've got specific information.
Unsurprisingly, we'll get the standard Team Deathmatch mode, which has Lara and her buddies facing off against the island's group of nasty natives known as the Scavengers. It'll be a best of three match and yes, those patented Tomb Raider traps will actually play a role. Spikes can shoot out of walls, there will be destructible parts of the environment, and platforming elements will also be featured. So can we set booby traps...?
Another mode is called Rescue, which has Survivors racing to find Med Packs and delivering them to rotating spots on the map while the Scavengers attempt to stop them. Lastly, there's Cry For Help; this mode hasn't been fully unveiled, but the emphasis will be on "discovery and collection," so that should prove intriguing. The competitive multiplayer feature will boast a deep roster of characters and players will load out with a primary weapon, sidearm, projectiles (like grenades) and even a climbing axe, which can also be used as a melee weapon.
Although the single-player campaign will undoubtedly be the focus and the main draw, this sounds like a robust and even innovative multiplayer element. So Crystal Dynamics appears to be on the right track, yes?

so does that justify its expenses?
biggest problem i have with this is whos working on it, i mean eidos montreal have NO experience with multiplayer games, NO experience with tomb raider, hell NO experience with even the genre!
why them?
this is like Ferrari making a new car, and deciding to commemorate its release were going to hire a company to make a commemorative jacket to go with the car.
who will we ask to make it, oh i know will get rollex, yes there highly skilled and highly experienced with making jackets!
$E has so many other highly experienced teams who would suit making this, why the hell choose montreal?
the only game they should be working on now is thief 4!

Yes, I'm a bit of a trophy whore and this is part of what bothers me, now I have to play through several hours (at least) of mp I usually don't enjoy and certainly don't need, to get the platinum for a game I've wanted since its sp announcement. This is the most annoying thing in the industry for me atm.
There is more than enough mp out there for the fans, how about leaving us sp fans something to play every now and then.
