Japanese Poll: Atelier Totori Is The Best Game For Girls

What are the top three games for girls according to Japanese developers and gamers?

Well, according to Siliconera, the very interesting results are in from a recent poll

Japanese developers picked Hatsune Miku: Project Diva f as the best game for girls, while readers of SPA! Magazine selected the acclaimed RPG, Atelier Totori: Adventurer of Arland. Second place went to Persona 4 Golden and the previously mentioned Hatsune Miku came in third; the latter title was the only one mentioned on both lists. It's interesting to see Atelier Totori as the fan pick for "Best Girl Game" or whatever...is it just because the main character is female? Or is this saying that girls really love RPGs just as much - if not more - than boys? Maybe that wouldn't be surprising.

Of course, this is a Japanese poll so it would surely be different in this country. What would be your picks as the best games for girls?

In my country.. every 1 in 50,000 girls plays games... those that do only plays PES, God of War and Need For Speed. A few play Tekken.

No cutesy Blaz Blue or Kingdom Hearts here... Best game for girls in Zambia is probably God of War.

Once it was Mario.

And when talking RPGs... girls (who watch TV) know them to be Rocket Propelled Grenades... the naughty ones hear "Role Playing" and ask if you are packing.

My girl loves it. It has cute enemies. Cute characters. I don't understand the story line so i couldn't tell you. It has in depth mechanics with alchemy and you need to give treats to cute enemies to get the materials. Uhhh that's all from what i've seen. She loves Vocaloids music too, which is funny. She may as well be a Japanese girl.

That's why I listed it as a guilty pleasure of mine, it's perfect for Japanese girls with light comedy, solid friendships, easy turn based battles and alchemy. But I like these too and I'm a 31 year old man. Just got Atelier Meruru too :)

Great game to put the Japanese voices on and just listen to the performances too.

Well the fact that the main protagonist is female (with minimal amounts of sexualization if any at all which is definitely a plus) certainly doesn't hurt. But it's also worth mentioning that siliconera also pointed out:

"The item collecting and creating aspect of the game is definitely one of the big factors that made the game popular to the female audience"

My girlfriends three favourite games are FIFA 13 which she beats me in everytime. It's even worse that she supports Manchester United..anyways..her other two favourites are LBP and Heavenly Sword except for the arrow shooting sections...she hates those.

Dislikes driving games and shooters but likes Halo every now and again. Handy that I love racing games and shooters.
