MLB 2K13 Announced, Perfect Game Challenge Returns
Care to see if you can be perfect? ...in a virtual baseball game, I mean?
Today, 2K Sports has announced that MLB 2K13 will be available on March 5, 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. If you're wondering, that's the same launch day as MLB 13: The Show, so that'll be quite the showdown for baseball aficionados.
The cover athlete for 2K Sports' latest simulation iteration will be Tampa Bay Rays star pitcher David Price, who just nabbed the American League Cy Young Award after a fantastic season in which he posted a 20-5 record with a league-leading 2.56 ERA. Price just beat out MLB 2K12 cover athlete, Detroit Tigers All-Star pitcher Justin Verlander. Said Price on being named:
"It’s a dream come true to appear on the cover of MLB 2K13. I’m looking forward to working with the 2K Sports team again, and welcoming another skilled gamer into ‘The Perfect Club.’"
Yep, the Perfect Game Challenge is back for a fourth consecutive go-round. This time, though, they're introducing a new contest format with "exciting ways to win." Last year's competition saw a record 1 million attempts and over 1,000 perfect games registered; 21-year-old Christopher Gilmore eventually won the prize; he prevailed in an eight-person tournament at the MLB FanCave in New York City. Details on this year's contest are forthcoming. $1 million to be won, my friends...gonna try?
