Journey Climbs Back To The Top Of PSN Chart In December

That tends to happen when a title starts winning Game of the Year awards from multiple major sources.

Although Journey arrived on the PlayStation Network in March of 2012, it managed to climb back to the top spot as the best PSN seller in December.

As revealed over at the PlayStation Blog, thatgamecompany's masterful production was the #1 most-purchased PSN title last month. It had been all the way down in 18th in November, but it started to get widespread recognition when the end-of-year awards started to heap appropriate praise on the game in question. For our part, Journey won Best Music, Best Artistry/Art Direction, Best PSN Game and Best PS3 Game. For the record, though, overall Game of the Year went to Dishonored.

Here's the PSN Top 10 for December:

  • 1. Journey
  • 2. Mass Effect
  • 3. Far Cry 3
  • 4. PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
  • 5. The Walking Dead – Episode 5: No Time Left
  • 6. Sonic Adventure 2
  • 7. Assassin’s Creed III
  • 8. Grand Theft Auto IV
  • 9. Guardians of Middle-Earth
  • 10. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Eclectic list. Sonic Adventure 2 is a surprise. I plunked down the $5 for Two Worlds II GOTY, just to have it on my hard drive and the extra maps in case anyone ever wanders into the multiplayer.

Are you going to review Mass Effect 1 ever Ben? I ask because I see it on that list and haven't heard you talk about it at all. Just wonder if its in the pipeline.

Glad to see PS All stars near the top. I'm loving it. It is similar to Smash Bros, but I'm perfectly happy with that, clone or not... each platform should have it's own brawler, because I'm having just as much fun with this as I did with Smash Bros.

Surprisingly good game.

I would think it got more notice from the countless gaming sites, including IGN, that gave it GOTY.
