Brutal Legend Developer May Wish To Acquire THQ Properties
With THQ looking to sell off their assets, a number of major players in the video game industry have already offered some bids.
Among the companies interested in one or multiple THQ properties are Electronic Arts, Warner Bros., and Ubisoft. Now, it seems that according to a Tweet from Distressed Debt Investing, Psychonauts and Brutal Legend developer Double Fine has also tossed its hat into the ring. Intriguing, no?
A Double Fine representative told GameSpot that they currently own the full IP rights to Costume Quest and Stacking, but THQ "retains certain limited distribution rights that have not expired yet, and we are exploring our options with respect to those." This past week, a US bankruptcy court judge ruled that THQ must allow for individual bids for its studios and franchises, contrary to what the embattled publisher wanted: An all-for-one sale, which had initially been a $60 million deal with Clearlake Capital Group. That, however, didn't happen.
As we've said before, we just hope things turn out all right for THQ and all its properties. Having Double Fine involved is an interesting twist, though, don't you think?

I hope someone other than Clearlake Capitol Company steps up because I have a feeling that they would just wind up piece-mealing out THQ's assets as bite sized morsels too.

really dident think they had the spare cash.
they would be the perfect developer for deblob 3, oh that HAS to happen thats a match made in heaven!
either them or media molecule.
other franchises though, i cant see it working.
would they really be the right fit for saints row, darksiders, metro, ect, ect?
im really hoping $ony will buy them out!
wont ever happen, but id be SO cool!
superbot entertainment could do deblob, $ony SM on darksiders, GG on metro, and $ony london studio on saints row, and $ony bend on red faction!
perfect!
whatever does happen to them, this BETTER NOT effect south park the stick of truth, and metro last light.
metro gave me goosebumps when i played it last october, it was just so creepy stepping into that crashed plane seeing all the chard corpses and getting flashbacks to the nuke going off causing the plane to crash.
havent had goosebumps like that since fear!
south park on the other hand, come on how often do we get a game thats a comedy?
let alone a comedy cartoon!
i pissed myself laughing just watching the opening trailer at the VGAs last year, i cant wait to see what the games like!
it can be buggy and boring as hell, as long as cartmans up to his usual racist jokes everyones going to love it!
