Classic White PS3 Bundle Hitting US, Too
Woo-hoo! Our turn. :)
A few days ago, we learned that Canada would be getting the Classic White PlayStation 3 model, which would come with one year of PlayStation Plus.
At the time, we wondered why North American gamers didn't get some extra color love. Well, no matter- Today, Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC (SCEA) has announced that the Classic White PS3, bundled with a one-year Plus membership, is also coming to the US; it launches on the same day as the Canadian release: January 27.
The price is $299 and you get a 500GB hard drive, which should allow you to put a whole lot of games on your machine. Don't forget about the Instant Game Collection available on the PSN and due to that Plus subscription, you can get plenty of great discounts and even free titles. Currently, there are 18 offerings in the Instant Game Collection but more are definitely on the way. Said SCEA vice president of platforms marketing John Koller:
"PlayStation continues to stand for gamers, and as such, we're excited to give PlayStation fans in North America what they've been asking for - a colored PS3 and access to a library of PS3 games for them to download and play instantly through PlayStation Plus and the Instant Game Collection. Gamers are looking for the best value and the best content, and with PlayStation Plus, they'll always have something new to play, choosing from a library of hit games such as inFAMOUS 2 and LittleBigPlanet 2."
So how's about some fancier colors now? Blue? Green? Red? Yellow? Don't stop now, Sony!

I see no reason that GS wouldn't let you swap it out.
Just make sure you package everything up exactly how it was, nice & neat, so they won't try to say that you already played around with it.
Just remember that white & other light colored console get a dingy yellowish/brownish hue to then as time goes on(especially if there's a smoker in the house), so you'll wind up have to thoroughly clean it a lot more often.
My grey Sega Dreamcast wound up that dingy color & I had to spay a solvent cleaner on a rag & kept rubbing & rubbing, & changing out all of the now-dirty rags, till it was back to original color specs.
A big FYI though....
make sure you spray the cleaner on a rag first just to test on an hidden area of the console, so you won't wind up damaging your system with too harsh a chemical which could either permanently stain it or even weaken the plastic case's strength without you knowing it.
