Forget The PS4, I Just Want To Play The Last Guardian...Soon

While everyone keeps talking about the next generation of consoles, I keep thinking about the games I still want to play from this generation.

Of course, there's a possibility that the long-anticipated title from Team ICO, The Last Guardian, will end up on the PS4. However, let's just assume the game is still intended for the PS3 and if that's the case, I want to get some new information on it. I want to play it. Soon.

If there's one game that would remind us that originality and innovation can still exist in large-scale productions, I think it'd be Guardian. I don't like it when people say there's no originality currently available, because we see a whole lot of unique and highly creative titles in the indie gaming realm. Just because they're not big-budget productions doesn't make them any less unique. However, it's also true that many of the biggest names in gaming have gotten pretty predictable as of late, and we're sort of relying on a few developers (like Quantic Dream) to give us fresh, innovative experiences.

And those who remember ICO and Shadow of the Colossus with the proper reverence fully understand just how important The Last Guardian could be. That's why I so want to play it, and I dearly hope that it hasn't been canned. They keep saying it's still in development but at this point, it's getting harder and harder to believe...

I'd rather take a console and play brand new games than choose a single game over it.

I get what you mean with your article but I just thought I'd share my opinion based on the article title alone.

I dunno about all that but if it does come out on PS3 then they are going to have to have a heart-melting campaign beforehand because people feel a bit roughed up by the vaporware aspect lo these many years.

Hope they change the name of this game and also if it comes out next year, PS3 is the best console ever made along with PS2.

For me, this game is nothing.
Even if Team ICO also worked on ICO and SoTC, I still don't know how this damn game plays and no gameplay footage yet so I can't get excited for TLG AT ALL.

after all these years, so many delays, such little shown, hell the last time udea talked about the game he said they still hadent implemented the controls!
8+ freaking years of work, and you STILL havent implemented controls!?
i find it VERY hard to believe its still in production!
not to mention udea left, half of the studios big wigs followed him, so whos left to follow his vision and bring it to completion?
and if it ever releases, and thats the universes biggest IF, we would need a god given miracle on the level of 100000 zeus sacrifices, for it to live up to a 10th of the expectations people have for it!

exactly why its better off being a ps4 title, that would give them a excuse to spend a bit more time working on it, and the extra technical prowess to work with.
as much as im intrigued to see how this turns out, after 8+ years in development!
id much rather see a sequel to ico, now THAT was a masterpiece and something worthy of a 8+ year development cycle!

Actual production began in 2009 so....
Everything before 2009 was done with pencils and paper ie. concept art.
Team ico was 6 people in an office, their a team not a studio hence the name TEAM ICO.
Japan STUDIO handles production under direction from udea.
These guys are creating everything from scratch, not to mention art takes time.

its was NOT pencils!
in 2005 a BBC journalist was shown a tech demo which was claimed to be actual gameplay of then a unannounced game.
that once TLG was announced, he came out and said this was the game he was shown.
05 - 13, and we STILL dont know anything about it!
this is the true DNF, at least with that we had a few teaser trailers, plus frequent updates from the developers!
not to mention it switched engines quite a few times.

I can see what you mean. I also want to play it very bad! However, I am praying that The Last Guardian is a PS4 launch title. I want to see as many system sellers as possible right out of the starting gates. This could be an epic launch!

Feck that!
I've spent over 2 grand on games waiting to play TLG on ps3.
This game has to release on ps3 for the sake of my sanity!

LOL! If it's to keep you sane then I am in agreement, give it to us on the PS3! No seriously, it really doesn't matter to me as I am sure it's going to be fantastic on either system. I just want to play it. It would move PS4s that's for sure. But I am sure there will be plenty of other AAA games to move PS4s at launch.

Well Sony said its STILL in development for PS3 so i'd tend to believe that over varying rumours of ps4 specs from so called sources who never give their names.

the new xbox and ps4 kits are really not as good as what the ps3 and 360 were when they came out. i read a week ago how they are off the shelf kits, consumer level parts. basically it sounds like MS and Sony are taking the Nintendo route, less mind blowing upgrade, more gimmicks. no fucking thanks if that is the case. from what i have heard from that same website the main differential between the 2 systems is the RAM. ps4 orbis has sightly higher AMD processor while the MS has more ram but that advantage is off put by the amount of room their OS needs. guessing its a windows 8 kernel variant to make it run smooth. i hope they take those qualities of WP8 and their tablets and apply it to xbox.

I think this game is probably intended for the ps4, but they don't want to say that because that would be an official announcement of the ps4.

I beginning to think that the name of this game is going to be changed from "The Last Guardian" to "The Last Game Ever Made" LOL. Seriously... this game either needs to come out soon or just not come out at all. I hate to say that but it's just beginning to take too long. Actually it began to take too long about a year and a half ago. Really unfortunate...
