BioWare: Stop Calling The Next ME Entry "Mass Effect 4"
Okay everyone, stop referring to the new Mass Effect as "Mass Effect 4." It's bugging BioWare.
We know the latest ME installment is brewing, but as BioWare community developer Chris Priestly recently stated in the company's forums (as cited at Eurogamer), calling this project "Mass Effect 4" does the new title a "disservice."
He reminded everyone that Commander Shepard's story is over and the trilogy is complete. Hence, the next game will be something entirely new:
"To call the next game Mass Effect 4 or ME4 is doing it a disservice and seems to cause a lot of confusion here.
We have already said that the Commander Shepard trilogy is over and that the next game will not feature him/her. I see people saying 'well, they'll have to pick a canon ending.' No, because the game does not have to come after. Or before. Or off to the side. Or with characters you know. Or yaddayaddayadda. Wherever, whenever, whoever, etc will all be revealed years down the road when we actually start talking about it."
Priestly added that fans should try to anticipate "what happens next in the Mass Effect universe; so far, there have been no official details released. So feel free to speculate to your heart's content...just don't get the name wrong. Call it...um..."Mass Effect: The Return," or something.
