Capcom On Why Resident Evil 6 Didn't Resonate With Gamers
Many long-time followers of the vaunted Resident Evil franchise weren't happy with how last year's RE6 came out.
And although the game ended up shipping over 5 million copies worldwide, Capcom remains sensitive to fan displeasure, and they're "currently analyzing the causes" as to why the title came up a little short.
In a recent Question & Answer session, the publisher tried to explain why RE6 didn't exactly meet gamer expectations. They say the issue involved their "internal development operations and sales operations," and they're still examining the issue:
"...we believe that the new challenges we tackled at the development stage were unable to sufficiently appeal to users. In addition, we believe there was inadequate organizational collaboration across our entire company with regard to marketing, promotions, the creation of plans and other activities. We will have to examine these results from several perspectives. We will reexamine our internal operating frameworks in order to identify areas that need to be improved concerning development as well as sales and administrative operations."
Capcom has been on record saying that RE6 "lost its momentum" after a solid launch that saw sales of 4.5 million in October. They expected to ship over 7 million copies worldwide but as you can see, they fell well shy of that anticipated number. There's a chance that the publisher might opt to reboot the franchise, which could be exactly what the fans want...provided Capcom understands that the fans want a survival/horror game.
This is starting to sound suspiciously like another Japanese company that apparently has no clue what its followers want...

We had dramatic orchestra music mostly throughout the whole game instead of the low atmospheric music that would intensify when enemies would spawn, plus way two many cut scenes...like every time you went through a door...instead of at the start and end of a chapter ala re 4&5.Other things like the fact you could'nt swap ammo & herbs ect, lack of ingame invite & the new hud sucks but thats cosmetic.
RE 6 should of been about barry burton or hunk although leon scott kennedy is pretty cool.

RE4 is a classic
Take off those rose tinted glasses, the old games are classics also but the voice acting is terrible & the scares are'nt that scary like the second time you'd played them plus seasoned players can beat em in 1.5 hours, i know because i spent my teenage years doing just that.
legend
RE5 is pretty much RE4 with co op....start in the outskirts of a village, get attacked by an enemy, jump through a window, get attacked by a lfew enemies, mak your way to village, get attacked by everyone in town ect.
RE5 is best played with someone who knows what their doing

there just stuck in their little world where they believe their fans that want survival horror is smaller than the fans that want action.
well, how has that worked out for the past 2 games.
and you STILL believe it!?
crapcom, what do we have to do to convince you that you will sell more copies with a survival RE than a action one?
everyone go buy resident evil revelations, and hopefully then when crapcom sees it selling better than RE6, than maybe they will finally wake up and start seeing whats been smacking them in the face for years!

My advice is create new titles if you want to experiement. Dont change a games identity, because then you've changed your consumer base.
