Warner Bros. Confirms New Batman Arkham Game For 2013

The first two games generated a loyal following and now, those fans definitely want another installment. And soon.

Thankfully, as part of Time Warner's latest earnings report, we've learned that we can expect the third entry in the Batman Arkham series to launch later this year.

CFO John Martin said said it would be part of the company's strong lineup for 2013-

"And we also have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise. So all in all, we expect Warners to post another very strong year in 2013. And with a little luck, the year should be as good or maybe even a little bit better than 2012."

The only downside is that according to VG24/7, the new Batman is not in development at Rocksteady Studios. The latter team is apparently working on a "stylized prequel" that will highlight the hero's first encounter with the Joker, and it's not expected to release until 2014 at the earliest. So who's working on the new Batman Arkham...?

Guess we'll find out soon enough.

I'm so old that I remember a band called Rock Steady Crew.

Oh come on Biker, surely you remember them? Very early 80s, their hit was "Hey you, the rock steady crew", often used during break dance acts, a very cute latino girl rapping.
That track is more eighties than the eighties itself.

Another great game to expect. All this love for Batman, why is no one doing an open world Avengers/marvel game?

Well, a couple of the Spiderman games, including the last, are open world. They are just not particularly good.

I didn't like those games. Combat felt so... Like a 5 year old on sugar. Just bouncing around. Just my opinion though, and i have an avatar :D

Congrats on the avatar, it's a shame it has to be so small I can't tell what it is.

Once you learn how to use the combat moves properly I'm sure there is a lot more than "just bouncing around"

This is VERY GOOD news! I was on a Batman kick a few months back and I beat and platinumed both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, and love the heck out of those games.

I actually just bought Arkham Asylum on sale on Steam for my PC just so I can play through again. Here's hoping the next game is just as great! I wonder who's developing it though, hopefully they do as great as Rocksteady did. I personally would love to see a game set in all of Gotham, but I know that would be quite a big game.

I really like the Asylum and City so I'd like to be looking forward to this game but no Rocksteady has me a little bit on edge. That's the only development team that's ever delivered a truly excellent Batman experience. I won't rule this one out without knowing much about it but without the guys who made the first two games, I can't see this one matching it.

Wish Rocksteady would do a proper superman game. They can do something similar to the first game. Make it so that Superman doesn't have access to all his powers due to some type some kryptonite shackles on parts of his body. As Superman makes progress breaking out of this private prison Lex created, he acquires keys that will remove the shackles to unlock one of his powers...The final shackle removal would now allow him to fly..up, up, and away! :)

The sequel could have superman with all his powers, having access to all metropolis. A nice mix of Arkham City and but larger like spiderman 2. :D

Great news! One of my favorite games of the generation. Looking forward to it.

I just hope the new developer works just as hard as Rocksteady.

they cant do another arkham game for me, they just spoiled the WHOLE franchise with the ending to city!
come on rocksteady, what the ^%$#@!@#$%^&*(&^%$#@ were you thinking!?
if there going to do another dark knight game though, i want to see them go back to the style of batman begins!
that was TRUE batman!
hiding in the shadows, luring your enemies towards you.
using your gadgets to play cat and mouse with your enemies leading them right into your trap.
city spoiled and ruined that because every time you use a gadget every single guard within a 200KM radius knew your exact location.
REALLY god annoying FAST!
the WHOLE point of batman is to hide in the shadows and lure enemies to your trap, if you cant do that, than your not batman!
they need to incorporate the batmobile as well, come on its one of THE most famous cars in the world how can you not have it in some of the best games in the world!?

as for rocksteady not working on it that shouldent be a problem, they have invested so heavily in it there not going to just turn over the franchise and say do whatever the hell you want!
even if the stories are right and there doing a prequel and someone else is doing the sequel, there still going to be heavily involved in it.
