Crysis 3 Beta Downloaded 3 Million Times
Well, guess that beta test is convincing a lot of people to buy the game, huh?
A multiplayer beta for Crysis 3 released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on January 29. That wasn't that long ago. And yet, EA has announced that it has been downloaded over 3 million times already, and pre-orders for the upcoming sequel are outstripping that of Crysis 2 by 35%.
EA also revealed that the online video series, "The 7 Wonders of Crysis 3," has helped to boost interest, as the Crysis YouTube Channel has passed 16 million visits. Crysis 3 is set to launch next week (February 19) and is easily one of the most anticipated titles of 2013. Prophet returns and there's no doubt that developer Crytek will once again push the graphical boundaries in delivering a slick, high-tech shooter. Did you participate in the beta? If so, what do you think? Personally, I've always thought of Crysis as more of a single-player-oriented series, but maybe that's just me...
By the way, this comes out on the same day as Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Decisions, decisions...

For me Crysis 2 offered some of the very best multiplayer gaming I've had in very many years. It practically revived my enthusiasm for MP and how great it *can* be.

My only complaint regarding the multiplayer is the 2 dlc map packs that nobody bought - I did and there are still maps never got to play because I couldn't get a game. Typically EA never thought to discount the maps and look after the community.
I didn't get a ton of time to play the beta - but enjoyed the time I did.
I'll pick C3 up for sure - but i won't be buying dlc maps until I've checked the Crysis forums to ensure they are populated first.

I sound like a mindless fanboy now but really, the maps of C2 were almost too good for business for them. Fantastic level design, big enough to take a while to get to know, varied challenges on the different maps, different atmospheres, the guys who designed these maps were clearly extremely experienced in multiplayer gaming.
