Fans Helped Capcom In Bringing RE Revelations To HD Consoles
Fan feedback should always be prized by any game maker or designer. That goes double when it comes to Capcom and the recently controversial Resident Evil franchise.
The good news is that the publisher in question absolutely took fan criticism into account when working on the Resident Evil: Revelations port. The game that originally launched on the Nintendo 3DS is headed to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC on May 21, and as producer Tsukasa Takenaka told Joystiq, the project was "largely driven by fan feedback."
Unsurprisingly, Takenaka said it was quite a bit of work to bring this 3DS production to the world of HD consoles:
"The models have been almost completely redone, the lighting filters, those kind of effects that consoles can do, has been redone from scratch and it's definitely something where we've made the game into something that's a whole new version for consoles."
However, despite improving the game in a number of ways and paying attention to what RE followers have said, Takenaka said bringing Revelations to HD platforms wasn't a reaction to disappointment when the title released on the 3DS. Actually, there were plenty of positive comments from fans after the title launched, so it's not about saving face or anything like that. Added Takenaka:
"I don't think it's right to say this is anything to do with any perceived disappointment with the performance of the game on the 3DS; quite the opposite. We find that the reception from fans and critics was very positive and we were very happy with the sales given the 3DS market at the time of its release. It isn't anything to do with us trying to salvage any kind of lost opportunity; quite the contrary."
So will you be interested to play this upgraded port when it arrives?

With upscaled visuals and audio, I can see this RE title doing very well, especially with the older fans of the older games.
It'll be interesting to see if it will beat RE6 in sales and reviews. Hopefully it will, as a wake up call to Capcom that they still have the magic touch, they just need to tap into it more often.
