Tomb Raider Film Reboot Coming Soon
The new Tomb Raider really is a great game (review coming very soon), so maybe it's time to see another movie, too.
Now that the video game reboot of the legendary series is on store shelves, Variety reports that a film reboot is coming.
It seems GK Films, responsible for Academy Award Best Picture winners "The Departed" and this year's "Argo," will be producing the new "Tomb Raider" movie. The good news is that developer Crystal Dynamics will be "working closely" with GK Films rather than just signing off on the licensing. Said studio boss Darrell Gallagher:
"They are working from this new take that we’ve given them. It’s a good partnership. We’re seeing the challenges through the same lens."
Gallagher added that this new movie won't be a sequel to 2001's original "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" or the 2003 follow-up, "Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life." Angelina Jolie played the iconic protagonist in each, although it's not known if she will return for this reboot. It's worthwhile to note that "Californication" actress Camilla Luddington voiced Lara in the new game, and even provided the motion capture. So... C'mon, she's cute. And I've never understood Jolie's appeal, anyway.

I think it would be a great move, to cast the games voice/mocap actor in the movie. It could only be a good thing.
Lara Croft doesn't NEED huge boobs anyway. I prefer the new look of her from the game vastly over the previous look.

especially because thats EXACTLY how the game has turned out!
so disappointed, i was really excited with the reboot expecting such a delicate fragile lara.
you get that for about the first 20 minutes of the game, then its as if im playing tomb raider underworld all over again!
from a scared cowering girl who cant hold a bow straight, let alone a gun!
to a girl putting a gun to a a guys head so he does what she wants all in the space of a few hours.
thats a reboot?
sounds like the typical lara croft weve known for years to me!
sigh.
why is it whenever a developer does a genre, they always have to look to the genre leaders and just copy them?
if i wanted a uncharted wannabee, i would of gone and bought uncharted!
wish developers would get that through their thick skulls!
we want new unique titles, not a rehash last years success story!
