Gearbox Teases Borderlands 2 DLC: New Vault Hunter Incoming

Ready for more Borderlands 2 DLC? Sure ya are.

During a SXSW panel, developer Gearbox Software teased a new piece of extra content for the award-winning shooter. We don't have the exact details just yet, but we have to assume it's coming soon so we can be patient.

It seems this DLC will deliver a brand new vault hunter, as reported by Joystiq:

"Deep beneath Pandora, an experiment has escaped. Bandits beware, a new vault hunter is coming. More mayhem awaits."

Click through the link to view the teaser trailer, which seems to highlight a melee-focused character. Borderlands franchise director Matt Armstrong wouldn't go into specifics but he did say that "DLC is announced on a very tight schedule" and therefore, we won't have to wait long before all this becomes official. Possibly this week...? Just bear in mind that the new vault hunter will not be included as part of the game's Season Pass, so everyone will have to pony up for this one.

I dont know if I can support Gearbox anymore. They went from being my most respected developers to one of my least respected. I found out recently something people have know for years that the art style for Borderlands 1 was heavily "inspired" by an indie film called codehunters.

What is worse, is gearbox was talking to the artist and director of that short film to get him to work on borderlands then they just said it wouldnt work and instead stole not only his art direction used in the short film, but certain parts of the intro of borderlands are suspiciously similar.

Yeah, I mean I really enjoyed the borderlands games. But that thing just kind of left a sour taste in my mouth.

Hopefully if enough people start talking about the guy will get his credit.

This is a great news! To bad Gearbox had to let down us Alien fans the way they did. That was truly a black mark on their record. However, there a lot of devs that misstep and they are forgiven. Gearbox had DNF and ACM that were true flops because they didn't focus their full potential on said properties. I hope they learned their lesson. I expect nothing but perfection from their next project.

Borderlands 2 is an amazing game and keeps getting better and better! The only things missing is a hot woman melee character that uses her fists, feet and head. Perhaps a grab ability that allows you to do many different moves/hits once the enemy has been grabbed. For instance, Super Double Dragon FTW!! Also we really need a level increase. Hopefully they get both of these aspects covered with this new character.

Another melee character in a shoot & loot? Look, this is BY FAR my favorite game of this entire generation but if I wanted to focus on a "melee" build, I'd play more as Zer0, I'm hoping this is more than just some sort of bastardized Brick type of character. I was really hoping for something even more cerebral and unique than what we already have.

OTOH, we really don't jack about this new character yet so until we have all the details, I'll give GB the benefit of the doubt, though. :)

gotta love it how they advertise the season pass as a more convenient cheaper way to get ALL the DLC!
then announce DLC thats not included in it.
so the definition of ALL is most of it is it?
typical.
what happened to the good old days where false advertisement was illegal?

You are an idiot. It could no bhave been made more clear at the time the DLC was announced AND at the P.O.S. when ordering, precisely what was included in the season pass: 4 story based DLCs. Nothing more. Nothing less. Period. If you thought something else was included - well, I can't help you with your own ignorance or inabillity to read or understand a language.

But, FFS, please stick to the actual and not imaginary facts.
