The Last Of Us Length Estimated To Be About 12-16 Hours
Length is always a key component for any game that remains focused on the single-player campaign.
Personally, I have no issue whatsoever with 8-10 hour adventures, as I can't spend the majority of my life playing video games. However, many hardcore gamers who play five or six hours in one sitting (presumably, they're all in college) want something more.
Therefore, they were hoping for a significantly lengthy campaign in Naughty Dog's hotly anticipated The Last Of Us. And while we won't be getting 20 hours, it seems we will be getting a game that is longer than any Uncharted title. During a video interview with Naughty Dog community strategist Arne Meyer (as cited by MadAssGamers), we learn that 12-16 appears to be accurate:
"We’re definitely looking at more than 12 hours, maybe 12 to 16 right now is what we’re looking at, it really depends on how you play. You can play a little bit slower if you try to approach situations stealthy, if you really wanna explore the environment and scavenge, that’s going to add more time too."
Well, that's good. As I tend to play more on the slow side, it's looking like 15 hours for me. As for downloadable content, Naughty Dog confirmed in the interview that any expansions "will only be multiplayer-focused." That I don't care about in the slightest but I imagine others might.

WorldEndsWithMe: I thought I was the only one who did that :) Especially in Naughty Dog games like Uncharted 2 where I can't help but stare at all those beautiful "Vista Points" like in that Tibetian village mountain views, or standing on some of those rooftops looking out over the city overlook.

ND thank you for producing full games and not adding sp campaign type dlc. Thank you for giving us your original vision in the final game and only focusing on mp dlc.

I've held true to this rule this gen, and with the exception of 1 or 2 mistakes, I haven't suffered for it. I mean, when you have a backlog, you aren't exactly hurting.

Today I hardly buy a single title on launch day. I didn't buy Crysis 3 until today when I saw it's already dropped to 50%.
It's madness to buy full price under these circumstances.

Unfortunately it was at a Norwegian webshop, and it was the PC version. PC games are generally priced lower and drops faster in price.
But I went to that store now and checked, and the PS3 version is only priced about 15 dollars higher than the PC version, so it's not a bad price on the PS3 version either.
Surely there must be other stores out there with similar prices, the Norwegian stores are typically just following the international pricing trends.

Can I ask how old you are? Bear with me because I am 39, and my 16 year old son says that I take twice as long as the "normal person" to beat game.
I am very slow going as I generally look at every corner.

My 14 year old son says the same, he's almost dying while waiting for me to move on in games like Borderlands. I like to stop and check out stuff, look for hidden weapon crates and so forth.
He's like, "dad you are taking FOREVER! We've been here before, let's move on!"

On one hand, it's probably an age-thing, since just generally kids tend to be more impatient and are probably more likely to rush through a game (which is pretty ironic, because I would also think that kids with less disposable income would be the type of person who requires more "hours per dollar spent")
On the other hand, I've always played like that since I was an early teen playing old Sierra adventure games, so it's also just a question of what type of person you are...
Personally I couldn't care less about the length of a video game, but how much detail & character they've put in those hours.

I'm still replaying games like the Mass Effect Trilogy, Skyrim and GT5 which give me proper value for money in that I have clocked 200+ hours in each of them.
