Duke Nukem Forever Among The Worst Games Of 2012 In Japan
Oh, we so need to have our own "Sh** Game of the Year."
That is the literal translation of the Japanese Wikipedia page, "Kusoge of the Year," which has named four titles that are in the running from 2012. According to Kotaku, one of them is the much-maligned Duke Nukem Forever. No big shock.
In order to qualify for this particular competition, games must have released between January 1 and December 31, and the titles are chosen by compiling user reviews in a dedicated thread. They're not going by critics here. And by the way, indie games aren't eligible for some reason...maybe because there are enough of them to tilt the crap meter. Sure, there are some great ones but let's face it, low budgets and amateur teams can lead to garbage quite often.
So anyway, in addition to DNF, there's Heavy Fire: Afghanistan, Toki Towa, and Pacific Storm: Battleship Yamato. Even all you JRPG lovers might have a problem with Toki Towa, which apparently features terrible graphics and animation, horrid gameplay balance, bad dialogue, and one piece of DLC that offers an extra CG sequence for $5.00. Yeah, that probably qualifies as "sh**." But DNF should win due to sheer disappointment level.
