Kojima Doesn't Want To Limit His Vision
While many PlayStation fans were a little miffed to lose Hideo Kojima to the lure of multiplatform appeal, the master says he doesn't really believe in limiting his highly acclaimed artistic scope.
In a recent EDGE interview, Kojima said he believes the future of gaming to revolve around the cloud, which means "there will be a lot of different devices involved." As you already know, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance shipped on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this year, and the newly announced Metal Gear Rising V has been confirmed for the PS3 and 360.
"It’s a tough question to answer. Obviously, I do like Sony, I respect them and I have a lot of things in common with their way of thinking. I think the future of gaming is with cloud technology and cloud gaming. I love Sony, I have a Sony camera, but I think if you’re going to enter the cloud generation then there will be a lot of different devices involved and a lot of different ways to interact with that game world. I don’t want to limit it to any one platform, but I’m not going to say I’m not going to participate in the events."
So it's probably safe to assume that all of Kojima's projects in the future will come to multiple platforms. But some may recall him saying he'd "never" bring one of his games to a Microsoft platform; I believe he said that some years back, right around the turn of the last generation. But hey, times change and the industry changes.
