Another Assassin's Creed Producer Gets The Unfortunate Axe

As we said, this has the potential to become quite the corporate drama.

After Ubisoft fired Assassin's Creed creator Patrice Désilets, the latter immediately responded with apparent ire, saying there was no warning or basis for his termination, and he was even escorted from the building between two security guards. Obviously, he's not happy about that, and he says he intends to fight back.

Now it appears he won't be alone. That's because he has Tweeted about his friend and co-worker at THQ Montreal, Jean-François Boivin. Apparently, Ubisoft got rid of him, too. He has been a production manager at Ubisoft since May 2006, where he oversaw development on the original Assassin's Creed and the sequel. Like Désilets, he left Ubisoft in 2010 to join THQ Montreal but after he returned (following Ubisoft's purchase of the studio), he was secretly on the chopping block. Or so it seems, based on the current evidence.

We have no idea what's going to come of this, but we figure Ubisoft will have to come forward with a public clarification at some point. Were these guys fired because they left the company? Or were they fired because their creative views concerning Assassin's Creed clashed with the publisher's?

What's the deal?

What a drama indeed. I bet they wanted to be more careful with AC and so "creative differences" resulted.

ADVICE: Don't team up and go to EA. It doesn't seem to be working for Respawn. Start your own studio and make an AC killer.

West left, we've been "assured" that the trouble at EA won't affect them, rumors persist that the game is going Xbox exclusive, and well, we haven't heard a dang thing about the game.

Wonder if they asked for more credit since they ARE the key people behind the key franchise.

Maybe that's why they got the axe?

its quite obvious why he got the axe, listen to what ubisoft said yesterday!
and i quote "Unfortunately, since the acquisition, the good faith discussions between Patrice and Ubisoft aimed at aligning Patrice's and the studio's visions have been inconclusive. As a result, Patrice has left the studio."
quite clear!
he is no longer there because his visions for the game and what the rest of the team want are very different.
he obviously was not happy with what he saw and wanted to change it, but the rest of the studio was not happy with that.
