Gran Turismo 6 All But Confirmed For PS3

Last week, we found out that Sony would be celebrating Gran Turismo's 15th anniversary in fine style.

They're primed and ready to announce something during a special large-scale media event on Wednesday, which will take place at England's Silverstone Race Circuit. Many have assumed - and ardently hoped - this will include the official unveiling of Gran Turismo 6

That may be true, as Sony has teased "the future" of the franchise. However, there has been much discussion as to whether or not the new series iteration will be available on the PlayStation 4. So far, all we have is evidence to support its existence on the PS3. Now, more evidence- As cited by TheSixthAxis, a retail source may have spilled the beans. Check out the website for Sony France. Things are lookin' pretty clear.

Yep, that looks like the new GT with a big ol' PS3 logo next to it. Wednesday is the day, racing fanatics! Maybe GT6 will be a gigantic cross-generation title... Wouldn't that be something!

Not sure what to expect with this, it would be hard to imagine they finished a cross-gen game in this time period. And it might be good to get a second game out of a generation.

But but is too soon? It better not be some type of expansion or Prologue :(

No, I don't want another GT for the PS3.
Didn't Kazunori Yamauchi say that he had to leave many things out, because of it's limitations, presumably especially the RAM??

The RAM talk was referring to the jaggy shadows and also youtube integration. There is still lots of features and content that would run fine on the PS3.

This makes the allure of being a PS4 early adopter that much easier to handle =)

Really with the massive list of games yet to release it's easier than ever to hold off.
The Last of Us
Beyond Two Souls
Gran Turismo 6
MGS Ground Zeroes
Splinter Cell Blacklist
The Puppeteer
Rain
Grand Theft Auto V
Dark Souls II
Batman Arkham Origins
Rayman Legends

oh, and of course there's still the non-PS4 versions of games like Assassins Creed and Battlefield

Ben, out of curiosity, what's your hunch based on that GT6 will be cross gen or be a PS4 title? It seems it's the one game that always seem like it'll be a definite PS4 title for you.

I thought the same thing, but after the 20th of February, it's hard to ignore all the rumors and specualation about GT6 being a PS3 game. The announcement of DriveClub is basically an indication that GT6 won't be a launch title. They're both Sony's title and there's no way they'll be releasing side by side. It's "almost" like MS releasing Forza 5 and Forza Horizon at the same time.

Another thing to consider is that this year is the 15th anniversary for the GT franchise worldwide outside of Japan, which means that GT6 will most likely release this year. If cross-gen is to be considered it would have to released in mid or late 2014. It would just be better to release PS3 this year and focus on another GT title that is GT7 for the PS4 if it's going to be released later than 2014. Again, to give DriveClub maximum expose, I'd personally give it a year free of GT.
