Gran Turismo 6 Gameplay Footage, We Start To Drool

Gran Turismo 6 was just officially unveiled this week, but we already have some really slick gameplay footage courtesy of GTPlanet.

Check it out below. The author who went hands-on with Polyphony Digital's new title said "it will be hard to go back to Gran Turismo 5 after having experienced GT6." He said that in older GT titles, he noticed a certain "numbness or dullness" in the handling characteristics of the cars, but it gets better with each new installment.

Obviously, it's still very early and we'll probably get a lot of naysayers who aren't all that interested in "GT5.5." However, when's the last time Kazunori Yamauchi delivered anything that was half-assed? When has he given us something that even remotely resembled "mediocre?" For my part, although I may wait for the PS4 version (if there is one), I seriously doubt PS3 owners will be disappointed with Gran Turismo 6.

That's just not Yamauchi's style.

Looks great. I can't get over how great the car models look in that batch of 4k screenshots. The poly counts are insane. I read that the game will be a noticeably large leap over GT5, just as GT4 and GT2 were before regarding their platforms.

Hey Temjin, I know you cant get over the 4k screenshots, but I kind of feel like you gonna be let down when you get your copy of the game. Unless you got an 4k tv?

nah, hehe the game won't run in 4k, at least on PS3. 'Bullshots' have been around for a while, see Assassin's Creed, so one has to learn to look for what's legit and what isn't.

I dunno, it's such a flat track you don't see much.

The brain should be thinking about the track and it's turns and your velocity ;)
I'm actually somewhat surprised that a simulator like this sells as well as it does. In an era of over-the-top entertainment it seems odd to me that a simulator can still draw in the masses.

I agree, it's a rigid style of game for these days.

I just bought the GT5 500 GB PS3. I refuse to get a rehash of the same thing for the PS3 when I should be getting a super new version for the PS4.

End of Line.

A rehash of the same game? Just because it's on the same system currently? Is this your first time playing GT?

You obviously are new to the series.

GT1 became GT2 on the PS1.
GT3 became GT4 on the PS2.
GT5 became GT6 on the PS3.

Each even numbered game offering tons of more content and other wonders.

I agree. I didn't really care for them in GT2 and GT4 but when they didn't appear in GT5, it felt...off. Best I can describe it lol.

The license tests were present in GT5, but they didn't mean a damn thing when you could run any race you wanted, provided you had a car for the race.

I agree that races should be license-locked.

I might get more excited when I've seen more footage.

I still play GT5 every so often so will have to give this careful consideration. As I don't intend to buy a PS4 on launch I might just grab this.

I'm not excited about it though.

This game better have premium for every car, robust and realistic damage, good load times, good UI and robust customization. If not, and this game doesn't sell what you want or expected, don't be surprised Sony or PD.

I agree. If it doesnt it was pointless to release it right now and only for the PS3. GT5 os so big unless they did those upgrades whats the point?
