Rumor: Assassin's Creed Movie Lands In Theaters On May 22, 2015

We knew they were working on a rousing film adaptation, but we didn't think we'd have to wait quite so long.

According to a listing at Box Office Mojo, Ubisoft Motion Pictures and New Regency Films will deliver an "Assassin's Creed" film to theaters on May 22, 2015. Yeah, 2015.

The movie stars Michael Fassbender and focuses on "a man who learns his ancestors were trained assassins after he is kidnapped by a secret org with ties to the Knights Templar, and sent back in time to retrieve historical artifacts." That's a quote from last year's Variety report on the subject, and it quickly and accurately sums up the core concept of the franchise. Obviously, many of the storylines are a bit more complex and there are plenty of other factors involved, but still...is there hope for a decent AC film?

Regarding the games, I still think they should've taken a year off and worked to create a totally revamped and new-and-improved Assassin's Creed specifically for next-generation consoles. As much as I loved ACIII, it was time to take a break, Ubisoft.

I'll watch it, not at the theater though. This is the sort of production that can either go just right or horribly wrong.

It could be a good movie. It's certainly an epic setting. It helps that Jake Gyllenhaal isn't in it. He was terrible in Prince of Persia.

If the Lineage series they did for AC@ is anything to go by then they could pull this off. AC3, although I do not own it but watched others play, was disappointed in gameplay and as I have voiced before in time and location. I hope they stick to European history or something more exotic and not try to sell it to North Americans.

Hopefully it won't be a fail like the Tomb Raider and Prince of Persia movies.

Keeo Pla..... Keep Watching!
