Pre-Order Lightning Returns, Wear Cloud Strife's FFVII Outfit

You know what this means, don't you? It means they're finally doing a Final Fantasy VII remake! Really, it does.

Okay, it doesn't, but it might be enough incentive for you to pre-order Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. Those who do will be able to play dress-up with protagonist Lightning.

The pre-order bonus is a Cloud Strife outfit, which you can check out in the video below. You will also receive a limited edition steelbook. The outfit in question boasts Cloud's legendary Buster Sword and Soldier's Band and the best part is that upon finishing off a foe, players will hear the timeless victory fanfare from Final Fantasy VII. If you'd rather, you can go for pre-order option #2, which is a Lightning Samurai Set; it includes the Shogun, Sohei Savior and Flower of Battle.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is set for February 2014 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Cross Dressing FTW!SE in 2013, ladies in gentlemen.

Now if they included the Cloud himself wearing his purple dress disguise from FF VII, THAT would be subversive enough to be interesting :)

Oh that's dirty! Making us get this bad game for full price to get the victory fanfare back!

Come to think of it, when Final Fantasy dropped the victory pose and fanfare is when it went bad. FFXII only had it once in awhile, then it was gone forever.

Neat outfit, but I'd prefer to remove more covering from my gals.

I don't think SE realizes the money they could make with a FF 7 remake. They just don't want to put forth the effort that would be required to make it.

No the problem is they just can't do it. Even if it was to be made I guarantee it would fail everyone's expectations. I still play the PS1 Final Fantasy's and they still stand up well so there is just no need for it in my opinion.

While I definitely want a remake, you're right Ultima, a) the original holds up remarkably well, and b) if they ever did remake it, everyone should really, really temper their expectations. There's just no way it would live up to the hype at this point.

I don't want a remake. They'll just muck it up. Square is nothing but a former shell of itself.

As much as I would love a well done remake of FF7, I agree... I have no faith in their ability to do it right.

I don't see the incentive. I love Final Fantasy VII but the game has nothing to do with this. There is just no reason for it other than to feed off nostalgia.

I don't mind tributes to other numeral titles in the series like in Final Fantasy IX how Zidane refers the two previous protagonist in the theater play with the line "No cloud, no squall shall hinder us!" But taking direct visuals from another Final Fantasy is just cheap.

That pretty much confirms who Lighting was modeled after. For years now people have compared Lighting to Cloud, now Square Pretty much confirms it. This is still not going to convince me to buy it. Well maybe when it hits the bargain bin.

I think that was already confirmed some time ago. If I recall, Nomura stated Cloud influenced his design for Lightening.

Another kick in the balls from SE. And notice I said kick in the balls, and not stab in the back. They stabed in the back when they went multi-plat.

Now I´m starting to get pissed against SE. They´ll not get even a dime from me anymore, until I see some effort and clear improvements.

I´m sick of their BS.

Sounds like a stunt to try to lure FF7 fanatics to buy what I think will be a terrible game. I'll stand by what I have done this whole generation and not buy one SE game.

They can try harder.

They should stick it making handled games. Seriously, their best games this gen have been on the PSP and DS/3DS. Still waiting for that Vita copy of FF type O. Where the hell is it Square?!

Normally that would be a foregone conclusion, I think they are so broke right now they can't even afford a localization. What they don't know (cuz they are stoopid)is that there is no need to even add English voices, a simple sub would sell.

With how easy it is to self publish I hope more studios put their games on PS4 now. Wii U isn't gonna have the base to support much.

Level 5

The Wii U should pick up in sales once Nintendo gets some of their software out. They made a console but forgot to make the games! =P

What's funny and ironic is Lightenings own games are terrible but she's one of the best characters in FF Dissidia Duodecim.

Until Final Fantasy learns how to act right, it's not allowed back in my house. A Cloud disguise is not going to change my mind.

Yeah, I don't know, man... it doesn't look horrible. I haven't spent tons of time reading about it or watching videos of it, but based on the comments on this page, it's not going to get any love from much of anyone here at PSXE. I'm not yet convinced it's going to suck. The action reminded me a little of my time on some great Level 5 RPGs like "Dark Cloud 2" and "Rogue Galaxy." Sure, those were cel-shaded, but the fighting seemed similar. Maybe I'm wrong. I'm going to wait for some reviews to get a better picture of it.

wish publishers would come up with better preorder bonuses, most of the time there useless skins or something like that.
wow, my characters wearing different clothes thats so mind blowing!
at least give me a different weapon or something that will actually DO something!

speaking of FF though i just got my XIV beta code.
dunno if i want to redeem it though, dont want to download it then find out its still a steaming pile and end up wasting half my download usage for nothing.

Don't get it. Its amazing. Ive been a part of it since alpha in december. Its actually final fantasy-ish and I wouldnt say that lightly.

I just say dont get it because you typically hate everything and a wise betting man would default to you hating it every single time.

What I would love for a preorder bonus? A complete ending to the game, or receiving it free if they insist on making it DLC!
