Lightning Returns The Divine Task Trailer: Old Friends Appear

If you're interested in the expansion of Lightning's story, here's a new trailer.

"The Divine Task" video puts a special emphasis on the plot, characters and setting of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. Lest you forget, the heroine has 13 days to save the earth from ruin, and she will also encounter some old friends (and enemies).

Noel and Serah - the main characters of Final Fantasy XIII-2 - are featured, as are Hope and Fang, playable characters in FFXIII. The intriguing part is that some old allies may be standing in Lightning's way; we've seen in several trailers that Noel obviously has a problem with the heroine's quest. We're not exactly sure why, but we're hoping the reasons aren't quite as convoluted as they could be.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will go into action in February 2014.

Thanks, Zak!

But yeah... the trailer was kinda neat to see old characters, but it didn't motivate me either.

I wonder if there'll be any ninja. There's not enough ninja action these days.

After watching this 12 minute gameplay demo I have to say my hype went way up for this game. The game seems like it is going to have a lot of depth and customization. very intriguing indeed. heres the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHR3yHgXRrk

I will say that the battles still kept a sense of turn-base though this an action jrpg. Still a little more on the action side though.

Still don't like that fricken timer.
Might be a fun game but not a true Final Fantasy obviously .

Check out some more lengthy gameplay here

I'm guessing things are going to get even more convoluted in this outing. She wonders if she's human? Last time I checked she was a goddess for no particular reason, so how can there be one almighty "God" now? At least dress spheres are back though.

like... oh em gee, man... she wonders if she's human? That's so deep... like... we've never had that in a game before!

Only Vincent gets to actually wonder that in an FF. ;p

Speaking of final fantasy , ff15 also has some new gameplay footage . Definitely kingdom hearts like but on an enormously larger scale.

Remember reading an interview with someone at square before XIII came out and them saying that they would like to make combat like it is in advent children - this looks quite a bit like it!

Thanks for that Shadow, it may not be old school goodness but AT LEAST it appears to retain a Japanese/Anime feel.

I'm putting all my faith in you Kingdom Hearts freaks, FFXV better have an epic story.

All this extra Lightning Returns media has shown me that they have another 12 year old script writer doing the work in the main series that Tetsuya Nomura has been sealed off from.

Right. I'm still holding on to what Tetsuya Nomura said in the beginning about exploration, replay value and FFXV feeling like an actual Final Fantasy( Airships, towns, NPC's, etc.)

Seems he's still the spokes person for this game. I have seen action rpg's done well. Let's see if this actually delivers.

So, now Lightning is Joan of Arc? Hmmmm...

In that case, maybe she'll be burned at the stake by the end of the game (finally ending the series). I'd pay for that. :P
